The metal bit at the top isn't sealed so water gets inside when you wash them. And then it's impossible to get the water out.

We are wine drinkers and we LOVE these. So inexpensive and easy to use. We've gave them as stocking stuffers for Christmas. Highly recommend.

I've very carefully laid the bottle horizontal, but I don't have confidence that it won't let go. It seals, but not secure enough for me to leave it on its side. Vertical on the counter seals very well can come back to it later and finish off the bottle.

I purchased these for a holiday party for ease of a 'festive' look with the red colorI liked the ease of use, however, I gave it only 4 stars based on a review I read about being able to lay bottle on side. We knew we'd have limited fridge space in the event we had any leftover wine. So based on the review that stated they were able to store on the bottle side, and nothing leaked, I purchased the product. It didn't work for us. We made sure to have the stopper securely in two bottles we needed to store in drawer of fridge. We were disappointed to find BOTH bottles of wine without the stopper in the bottles, creating a huge mess to clean up after. just beware of that potential hazard.

This stopper is simple and easy, but it does not have the strength to resist the pressure of a carbonated beverage like beer. It eventually pops out. Might be fine for wine, with no pressure.
