This is the best massaman paste on the market. I prepare mine using oso bucco minus the bone. Cut into medium pieces, add onions and potatoes cut into medium pieces. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of this paste and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, smooth or crunchy your choice and fill the pan up so as you have enough water to fully cook the meat and allow to reduce the liquid amount and allow to simmer for a 1 to 2 hours so that the meat is so soft...taste test it and if desired add 1 more tablespoon of paste and coconut milk then allow a further 15 to 20 mins to really set off the flavour. Make sure there is not too much liquid or it will be runny and weak. Fantastic product and always in my fridge because the family begs me to make this when they visit.

The flavors and taste of this curry are nice and I would say overall it is good value for the money, but my only issue with it is it's not as spicy or rich as I had hoped it would be. I've made about 3 curries with the Mae Ploy Massaman curry so far and I find it's better if I add a tablespoon more than what I'm used to using. The packaging and seal are ideal, and I keep in in the fridge between uses.

This is what you want when making massaman curry. It makes my home cooking taste just like my favorite restaurant, without the long drive. the paste is in a plastic bag inside the tub. Contains enough you should be able to make multiple batches. Delicious!

This curry seasoning is a paste that is very salty so there’s a limit on how much can be used. It’s perfect for making quick sauces for a stir fry. I use a couple of tablespoons of curry seasoning and a can of coconut milk to make a simple sauce. The sauce is good for any type of protein. For a more authentic Thai taste, I add maple sugar (in lieu of palm sugar), fish sauce and drizzle with lime juice after cooking.

I have had good Massaman curry in the past. I ended up throwing away the whole batch. It's too salty and has a gritty texture.

So ‘warmth’ is slightly misleading. As it a out of 5, I did not want to score low as that looks like a criticism. For those of you reading this to mean ‘this is really hot’ that is not what this reads as to me. Massaman is a flavoursome beautiful curry but not hot, not meant to be. It is curry but the chilli or heat is swapped with complex flavours. Massaman is one of my most favourite curries and this paste does not disappoint. As well suited to beef as it is for vegetarians with waxy and sweet potatoes and green beans. Not suited to vegans as there are fish ingredients. This paste is high value and high quality and with the right extra cooking ingredients (fish sauce, a cinnamon stick, coconut milk, galangel paste, soft brown sugar, raw peanuts and lemon juice) you end up with an amazing flavourful curry that competes with any take away Thai at a bargain price. I’d give this paste 100% and also though the 1kg sounds a lot, this stuff lasts safely in the fridge forever almost. My friends (meat eaters and vegetarians) each rated the relevant versions at dinner. It’s well priced also compared to prices at Asian supermarkets (if you live close enough).

Excellent flavours, great with or without coconut cream/milk. Have a dryer curry or soup based, either is really tasty.
