A lace brace was recommended by surgeon following a tendon rupture. Concur it is the best brace I've used to date. Provides support, comfortable, and seems to help with ankle stability pretty well. Depending on severity, this may be your best starting point for a good ankle brace. It may impact footwear for on top of foot due to lacing, so just keep in mind might lose some options.

This brace is decent quality. The doctors I see suggest these anyways. As long as you get the right size the fit is good. Its not too bulky. Nor is it uncomforatable. My only issue is the seem with upagainst the lower ankle seems to tear and seperate often. But I purchase these all of the time.

Large for size 9 women foot fits better than whatever the doctor gave. You measure around your heel to top of foot. Good support.

There is a lot of secureness with this item. Velcro in three places on top of the laces. Holds my ankle in good so I am able to do my speed walking. I would recommend as it was recommended to me as well.

Xxs fits my foot perfectly. I wear a size 5 to 6 in womens (depending on the brand) and it helps with the pain I have in my foot from an injury. It's also way cheaper than what the doctors office was going to charge me.However, it smells like an awful perfume fragrance and I can't stand it. I have ordered other things from Amazon and they have smelled the same. I'm not sure what they're doing to the products. Even the outside packaging of food items smells the same. I have to let this air out before I can wear it. I needed this brace to wear immediately, too. This is frustrating.

My orthopedist recommended I get a brace for my peroneal tendon issue that has both lacing and Velcro straps, suggesting the DonJoy brand. The brace is a wonder- pain free walking all day! Very comfortable after a little futzing. (Wearing a light, thin sock increases the comfort and avoids chafing.) The lacing, criss-cross straps plus side boning make for superior support. (I tried a less expensive brand but there was no side bracing and it made a big difference.) The down side to boning is that my foot is wider at the ankle and the only shoes I can wear are sneakers, mules or slides. Any kind that used to hug the ankle are a no-go. I am very pleased, though, and just ordered a black one. Wish they came in beige...
