Best little exerciser
I bought this as I end up homebound a lot. I have fibromyalgia and it's hard to find exercise that is doable and yet it's so important to have some movement. I've done lots of workout stuff in the past and am familiar w/ most gym equipment. This is a great workout-very similar in exertion to walking at a brisk pace, but it depends on how fast you peddle. I find that doing it for a good length of time is a good work out and I break a sweat always and feel it afterward. It really helps keep me in shape. The only thing is the resistance knob-don't know if it will work long as I have to tighten it further each time.It is very easy to put away-as easy as putting away a large notebook-just pull the pin and it's flat and toss it under the couch.I live in a climate where the weather is usually bad 60mph winds, cold or rain etc..This is a must have for us in the freeze zone. It is great used along w/ the virtual walk CD's that can be found online just search "virtual walks". The walk I have is 60 min and I just sit on the couch and pedal in front of the TV. Almost as good as walking thru Hawaii and a lot warmer than being outdoors.

It started sqeaking a lot. Tried oiling it and finally I gave up on it.
I finally donated it to some one that may have been able to fix the noise.

Regaining use of legs
My housemate suffered a stroke in Aug 2015 that left his left leg immobile. Over the next few months, with occasional exercising of his legs while in bed, he regained some voluntary movement of his leg. I bought the pedlar to facilitate leg movement exercises when he was able to sit in his wheelchair. I found that only about a set of 10 rotations forward, then 10 backward, with me pressing his foot to move the pedals was enough; his legs became sore with more. I am now at about 3 of these double sets, once a day, when he wants to do it. He has regained move voluntary movement of his legs, even to the point of "stepping" forward on the floor during wheelchair rides. He is starting to move the wheelchair forward on his own, using his feet/legs. He is close to being able to rotate the pedals himself. His legs were beginning to atrophy before these exercises: he now recognizes that he is getting stronger and is pleased with himself when he uses the pedlar.

Good choice
There are so many of these for sale it was hard to decide. But this one turned out just fine. You have to sit in the right chair and get the correct angle, but it does the trick while I'm sitting at my desk and need to exercise for an arthritic hip. No, it's not silky smooth, but it's certainly smooth enough. The only problem: when not in use the pedals flip so the base part is up and the strap is down. it's hard to get your feet in them without bending over and holding the pedals upright while you slide in your feet. It's cumbersome and this may make it hard for someone who can't make that motion.

Pedlar
My neurologist wanted me to use a stationary bike. When I mentioned the cost she said "This is your life". The physical therapist said one that wasn't fancy costabout $500. I understand some people buy them used. The physical therapist said her mother used Pedlar and it worked out well. Patients also used it. "Too good to be true". For $42.95 with free shipping Amazon delivered it.I sit on a chair and put The Pedlar on the floor in front of me.I think it works well.I would like tho to know where it is recommended to place it -- just how far from my chair.

No mettle in this peddlar
In less than six months since I began using this product, one of the pedals came off. This was the second time I bought this item (on Amazon) and had the same problem each time.I only ordered it a second time because I assumed the first one was a fluke.Apparently the poor welding of the peddles onto the frame can't take the heat generated after only dozens or so uses because this item is poorly constructed!

hipper
Bought this for wife who broke hip. Part of rehab exercises. Quality is good but peddles don't return to correct position for placing feet. The rubber grips do not work well on wood floors. Works great for arm positioning on tables.

Wow that broke fast!
I've had this item since June 2011. Today the weld on one of the pedals just popped straight off. I'm not sure if I used it too much for too long or what, but this item does not have the duration it should for the price that I paid. I recommend that you don't use it for more than 10 minutes at a time if you get it, in order to let it cool off. I'm guessing mine broke from heat stress. Anyone have any recommendations for one that is more durable????
