Easy to install, functions great and smooth only thing i was unhappy was the trim piece didn't exactly fit flush and sits a lilttle off at a corner or 2 but overall great buy

This product works perfectly. One thing to check is the position of the plastic rod retainers. They were installed backwards when I took the product out of the package. I sprayed some white lithium grease on the rivet that goes bad eventually. My tailgate works like new again. I used this on a 1997 C2500 pickup. Installation is pretty easy. Delivery was fast.

Package came unboxed and just in a plastic shipping bag, but was undamaged. The latch is all metal and feels like it will last. Does not come with bolts so plan on reusing the originals -- mine were T-40 Torx. Connecting the latch rods to the latch is and will probably be the most annoying part of the install. I had to drop the tailgate and then wedge a big wrench in between the latch pin and the tailgate to get that extra but of leverage to slide the plastic pin into the latch hole. The plastic connecting pins are a bit suspect and don't feel like they make a snug connection to the latch, but are fairly easy to get into the latch once you get that bit of wiggle room. It opens and closes very easily and I am quite happy with it. 5 stars!
