Nice shoes but prefer the Bloch
I'm a beginner at tap and I initially bought the Bloch Women's Tap-Flex Tap Shoe in my street size (5.5). It was a little tight, so I ordered the Capezio Women's Flex Master Tap shoe in a size 6. Though the shoes fit well, I found that I preferred the construction of the Bloch and returned the Capezio. Both are nice shoes and sound great. Here's a comparison:Capezio Flex master:- Shape is different. It looks and feels somewhat like a ballet shoe mounted on heels- Very soft and flexible right out of the box. In fact, too soft and flexible for me because I could feel the edge of the heel transfer through to the insole. Probably something to get used to with time, but I found the feeling distracting.- The heel is rather long and extends forward almost to the arch. This may not be a problem in larger size shoes. The Bloch heel stayed well back from the arch.- The blue insole is comfortable at the heel but stops just beyond the arch. The ball and toe area appear unfinished inside and I kept feeling the transition through my socks.Bloch Tap-Flex:- Shaped more like an Oxford, wider at the ball and tapering toward the toes- Soft leather upper. The flex sole is stiffer out of the box than the Capezio. A couple of weeks and the flexibility has improved while still providing support.- There is no stitching around the support at the back of the shoe in the Achilles tendon area. The edge of the support caused some friction but nothing a pair of socks will not mask.Hope that helps!

The Shoe Fits!
For those with large feet… I am a woman who wears a size 11 sandal, 11.5 closed toe shoe, and size 12 running shoe; my feet are normal width. Following Capezio’s size guide, I ordered a size 12 and it fit perfectly. There’s room for my toes! I’ve always worn full sole tap shoes, but I didn’t notice a difference in this split sole shoe. Now I can get back to tapping without all of the pain from my old outgrown shoes!I can’t comment on longevity, but my 20 year old Capezio tap shoes have held up. I would still be using them if it wasn’t for my feet growing after having kids.

Merely Ok for an Irish dancer
For my needs, this shoe is merely okay. I'm an Irish step dance instructor; a tap shoe is a compromise to make sound but not have the discomfort of wearing Irish hard shoes for hours a day. I probably wear the shoes 4-6 hours a week for the school year and one month over the summer. The shoe sizes street shoe to slightly small - I'm a 6 1/2 or 7, and the 6 1/2 fits me; I wear a 7 1/2 Bloch dance sneaker. We all know you have to experiment with dance shoe sizes. The taps are okay to slightly muffled, some of which goes away with a little bit of use. The shoes are really flexible; you can do toe stands easily. The shoes come with a blue poron (high density foam) inner sole, which for some odd reason runs from the rear of the shoe through the arch, but the ball of the shoe is not cushion. This is a mystery to me - I think tap dancers, like me, spend more time on the ball of the foot than the heel, so why the padding doesn't extend there is baffling. The inner sole does crack over time (8-10 months) from going up on toes and pointing, but it doesn't make the shoe uncomfortable.I can see that having the inner sole cover the entire shoe bed would mean more cracking, but surely they could have separate pad at the ball of the foot, and keep a heel pad if needed. Why the arch needs padding is unclear.I think I'd like the oxford better if it had one more eyelet of lacing. Sometimes I feel like I can't snug the shoe to my foot sufficiently, especially for going on toes. For my purposes, the heel is somewhat of a bummer. We use our heels for clicks in Irish, which I realize is not a requirement for tap shoes. This shoe at least doesn't have a leather wrapped heel, which looks ratty after about a week in my case (sorry Bloch). My absolute favorite shoe by Leo's, since discontinued, had a solid, high-density plastic heel, and it was great. These shoes do have a solid heel, but it's softer, and it doesn't get a nice click, just a dull thunk, unless I catch the tap edges and then I get a metallic snick, which is okay, but a lot harder to do.The shoes look okay on my feet, which not all tap shoes do, although my Leos looked better. My foot is rather wide at the ball.My first pair lasted a year, and despite the cracked inner sole, I probably would have kept them longer but one shoe stretched out too much due to a foot brace I wore for much of last year. Now that I'm not wearing it, I can't tighten the shoe enough. This is somewhat an issue even with the brand new pair, so I think the lacing/eyelet placement is also part of the issue. The leather is heavier than on my Leos (tho not my Blochs), and on my Leos the seam tends to give by my big toe, which isn't an issue with these shoes.

Not the best
These are pretty uncomfortable and produce very little sound. At least they were cheap.

WAY TO SMALL
They are beautifully made, but my daughter always wears a 3 M and these 4 W were way too small. I just ordered a 5 W to see if they fit.

Should have gone up 1/2 size
I wore these shoes for a tap class within an hour of receiving them. They were a little snug with light socks, but I wore them anyway. They were comfortable for the 1 1/2 hour class. The second time I wore them, the ball of my left foot and left heel became fatigued and ached. There's no padding in the foot bed with very little padding in the heel, They are too small to add any inserts for extra padding. I got the recommended size (7), but now wish I had gone up a 1/2 size. I wore them without socks today and they were okay, but not great. I also bought the Bloch Flex shoes in size 7 1/2 and they were a little roomier, so I will keep them and use inserts for foot fatigue. I do think the Capezio's are a better shoe than the Bloch's.

Don't size up too much.
Couldn't wait to get these! It's been 30 years since I've had tap shoes on my feet! However, I ordered too big. I wear 9-9.5 in street shoes so I ordered a 10, knowing that they run narrow. I would've been able to handle the width, but they were just too long. If you have borderline wide feet, do yourself a favor and just get the wide width but don't size up too much. Can't wait to get the right size in the mail!

Leather Sock
Trust, these tap shoes are like wearing a leather no show sock with very little room inside. Very little arch support, so, I suggest getting an insole for that and wear some pads as socks or something. They are quite loud though.

Rubber Sole Needed Sticking
These are great split sole tap shoes - I have bought this type for my daughter before and she loves them. This pair came very quickly, which was great as she had her tap exam coming up. Unfortunately, the rubber sole started to come away from the shoe after just a couple of wears. Had to buy glue to stick it as no time for return and waiting for replacement due to imminent exam.
