Igloo Replacement Threaded Drain Plug

Perfect replacement part! Fits my Igloo cooler just right and seals up nice and tight — no leaks at all. The threaded cap is secure, and I love that it has a tether so you don’t lose it. Installation was super easy, just make sure to measure your cooler’s drain hole size before ordering. Works exactly as expected!

I purchased the Igloo Replacement Threaded Drains for my cooler because the original drain was damaged, and this replacement worked perfectly. It was easy to install and did exactly what I needed it to do. If your cooler drain is broken and you don’t want to buy a whole new cooler, this is a simple and effective solution. This was an exact replacement for the drain plug assembly on my blue & white MaxCold 60 wheeled cooler, though I had to modify slightly. Modifications: adding an O-ring & plastic shim between outside of cooler & hex head) so I could tighten fully. Oddly, the replacement was dimensionally identical to my original, but when tightened it still slid back and forth laterally approx. 1/8". (Best guess is shrinkage or impact over the years reduced cooler wall thickness?!) Adding the O-ring & shim to the outside took up enough slack that I was able to tighten the nut & washer inside the cooler without overtightening. Overall a high quality item & one thing I love about Igloo is that they offer replacement parts!

The five stars is only about the product shown, fit, form, and function are perfect. I have a large 100 quart "Quick & Cool" Igloo that uses this type of drain plug, unfortunately the tether broke and I have since lost the cap. The igloo store sells a replacement, but at twice the price as the one here on Amazon. I was ecstatic to have found a replacement drain plug for a good price and ordered it promptly. Replacing the drain plug was easy, it is built exactly like the one shown in this image. Remove the retaining nut, push the old plug out, clean the inside of any dirt, apply silicone lubricant on the included o-ring, and tighten to a snug fit. Now, to my complaint: If, like me, you are only replacing this drain plug because of a broken or missing cap, be aware that a standard "water hose cap" will screw on the threads just fine and am 99.99% certain that a water hose cap will seal it too. After removing the drain plug, being the hoarder I am, I set mine on a shelf next to the quick release water hose stuff (I don't know, just in case I guess). Lo and behold I noticed that the threads looked the same so I took another adapter and it screwed right on this drain plug. Well I would be darned if it didn't work. Also, the drain plug looks a LOT like a 3/4" diameter sprinkler extension by 3" length. I haven't tried it. yet.
