Dollar for dollar this combo is the best I have found!!
Dollar for dollar you will not find a higher quality rod/reel combo.Lets first describe the rod; it is a two piece, portable design that fits snug and is very light, yet durable. My regular guy opinion is that I would feel comfortable reeling in any fish up to about 5 pounds. I've used this mostly on baby "Snapper" Blues on Long Island and for even the largest of those, this rod is more than sufficient...Those little suckers put up a nice fight, too. The grip is a nice dense foam and the reel is affixed securely. Now for the reel: This reel is surprisingly smooth. Again, it is a light duty reel for sporting fishers. It comes pre-spooled but to avoid frustration (ask me how I know??), I would immediately strip the pre-spool off and re-spool with some Trilene.A minor nitpick- the screw that holds the handle on loosens periodically but it's nothing a little tightening cannot fix.Overall, this rod/reel combo is an excellent buy for the money. Keep in mind the limitations of this thing and do not expect it to be as good as a something you would spend $100 on. I got a one of these for each of my three boys and they do an excellent job as a kids rig or as a back-up rig or as a light duty rig. Good luck.

But don't expect too much out of it Good ENTRY LEVEL POLE
For 14 bucks you it is hard to beat. But don't expect too much out of it Good ENTRY LEVEL POLE. I have used mine for almost a year or so it was my beginner pole. Caught a lot of fish with it. Pretty fun to catch 10 to 15 pound carp on. Its my pole that I always keep in my carPRO-Cheap-Durable need to know how to set the drag-for 0 to 8 pound fish once you get over 4 pounds the reel gets iffy (in my opinion)- much better than going to walmart and getting those stupid kits ( just buy this some hooks, weights, bobbers, worms, bait, a couple lures and watch some youtube how to vids)-easy to use-kids will love itCons-Cheap-If you take up fishing you will eventually buy a better pole-the reel works but is not smooth ( reel is Plasticy)- pole is short cant cast as far as say a 6.5 foot pole-handle is Short (longer handle helps with two handed casts)-line it comes with sucks throw it out and put on some 8 pound line on itConclusionIts good for what it is and price. I had a lot of fun with this pole. occasionally take it out to mess around with. But I will probably give it to a kid or beginner later on.

Great Value Combo for the Aspiring Angler
In short, this is a fantastic combo to grab (especially when on sale) for someone considering getting into fishing. I grabbed two of these three years ago and put them to some pitiful attempts to catch fish before storing them away. This summer they were dragged back out and have been fantastic at handling 17-24 inch trout on the same line they came with.this isn't the end all be all of rods I have no doubt, but it's successfully got me fishing and learning about the mechanics. The pre-spool is great for a beginner like myself just getting a hang for it now, and I plan to use one of the two I have to "test" line and really put some abuse to it. As I get ready to look into a rod and reel in a higher budget, I've no doubt I'll keep the two in storage for when a friend or two want to tag a long, or as a backup for myself.

Nothing super fancy or anything but it works as well as ...
Decent combo for the price. Nothing super fancy or anything but it works as well as can be expected. Great for beginners and people who don't have time to maintain higher end rods. You certainly don't feel bad if you accidentally snap the rod but so far it's held out pretty well for me. I've caught most panfish on this rod without any issues, but it will work for larger fish (trout, bass, etc). Only recommendation would be to put new line on this rod as soon as you get it. It comes pre-spooled but that line has been sitting there for who knows how long. Way too much line memory which seemed to get worse even after stretching it out a bit so save yourself some frustration and put decent 6lb line on it which is the lowest this reel is rated for.

Nice rod/reel combo
Nice rod/reel combo, although the line that comes with the reel, in my opinion, is not very good. the line is a plastic mono-filament. I recommend replacing the line as soon as you receive the rod/reel. the first few times I fished with it. I spent most of my time clearing casting knots. After the 3rd time. I switched the line to a braided monofilament line by PowerPro and have had no problems with casting knots since.

Good quality and good combo
This product came on time and is high quality. My only complaint is that the drag is strange and if you tie on a lure and let it float the line unravels. Other than this it is a good rod and reel combo. I have never really used a spinning reel so I am excited to learn.

Good reel for the money
Good reel and rod combo but it does tangle fairly easy. I purchased this as a cheap backup reel for a recent fishing trip. Ended up needing it and using it for an entire day. It tangled up pretty good on me once and then some minor tangles before and after. Overall especially for the price it was a pretty good purchase.

Won the kids derby on the first trip out!!
These are good "starter" rods. We changed the line as soon as we got them and one of the kid's first fish was a 14in. catfish! Won the kids derby on the first trip out!! Good value for the money!
