I use the lightest shade for sketching before watercolor painting. Mistakes erase easily with a kneadable eraser, they blend well and the leads are strong. Would like to see packs of single shades as I only use the lightest lead. Great product!

These are great art pencils and actually better and cheaper than the ones at Michaels.

I bought two sets for grandchildren. These use these pencils for sketching as well as doing their school work. The kids like them because, depending on the lead number, they write dark enough for their school work. However, I do remind my grandchild to do their initial sketches using the harder lead so it is easier to erase & corrections/alterations to their pictures.These are a great value for the money. I am not a beginner, but I don't see any real difference between these pencils and the more expensive pencils I buy for myself. They make a wonderful gift.
