I was always taught to use your finger, this tools works a bit better. Handy and worth it if you have a decent sized caulk job, are a noob handy person, or just want it to look nice without much hassle.

If you are a pro or a skilled home owner then don't bother. When I was young I used to be skilled but no more. The project was re-caulking the kitchen sink. For prep the metal scraper was useful but needed to follow up with a screwdriver/chisel. Ran a bead followed by white silicon pad. I applied too much caulking thus had trouble not smearing caulk all over the place. The silicon pad was difficult to remove caulk and needed effort cleaning during caulk. After removing the excess on the counter top and sink, I used the wet finger for the final finish. I used a blue scraper to remove most of the remaining smeared caulk and followed up with a chisel. Final result looks good. Would I buy it again? No.

This caulk removing device seems very flimsy BUT it absolutely did make the stripping of existing caulk so much easier. Full disclosure: I had to strip caulk from a bathroom window. The caulk was poorly applied, very hard, and, at times, difficult to reach (I am 5' 6"). I had some reservations about the weight and strength of the stripping tool but, here I am a a couple of weeks later, looking at the final results of my project and telling you.... this tool helped.The fact that it has the blue "smoothing" tools is also helpful. Although my window had some very uneven edges, this tool was helpful to get me started... I ended up using my finger a few times. I am about to re-caulk my bathtub (which has more even/smoother edges) and I am sure these tools will make it so easy.

I hte working with sticky liquids like silicone. This thing is the bomb. Helps to eliminate mess. Silicone finishes look perfect even though my skill level is below ape. The only reason for 4 stars is that the silicone pads that you can replace are very soft and are damaged really easily.
