Bush Cassette Player and Recorder - Black

Someone who remembers a time when if you wanted a song you’d use one of these and tape it from the radio! Pirate recording back in the day! I’m a singer songwriter and in the good old days would sit in front of one of these rehearsing new song ideas! And now, although I’ve got access to all manner of technical recording equipment, still find the old cassette recorder method the best way to knock out draft ideas. Not bad quality and the sound is as expected ( tinny) but you can add external speakers via the headphone jack to rectify that. It also has a USB slot although I’ve yet to explore that further. All in all a good bit of nostalgic fun that still has practical use. Tapes, however are a bit on the pricey side.

I ordered this make of cassette recorder as my previous one (over 20 years old) no longer worked after years of use with no problems at all. I was surprised at how flimsy this one was compared to the robust model I had owned before. As soon as I switched it on, there was a grinding noise which did not bode well and it chewed up the tape I put in. I tried another empty tape and it chewed it up as well. I immediately parcelled it up for return.Was I unlucky in this product? I do not know. If you get a working model, it is easy to use. I cannot comment on the value for money or sound quality of this more up to date model because the one I received was faulty.

Great little retro cassette player and the sound quality is brilliant. Easy to use for my 84 year old mum, but one thing that needs changing- when you press the play/pause/fstfwd/rwd/stop/eject buttons your finger literally flies off when you depress them as they are so slippery with no grip whatsoever.I have glued on some non-slip matting which works a treat, but this would be an easy manufacturing fix.Other than that - it's great

To be fair I was sceptical think they were still as rubbish as they were in the 80s. But no pretty good. Needed it to record voice and does exactly that. Haven't got any of my old mix tapes to play on it but all in all im pleased with the purchase

Despite what is advertised there is no USB audio output to computer.Even through the headphones output a lot of the bass/low end is removed from playback leading to a thin sound. Perhaps it optimized for voice recording?

Looks good, but, on trying different cassette tapes, the cassette recorder doesn't play tapes all the way through without it keeps stopping them, as if the tape has finished it's side, when it hasn't. Sometimes this happens within minutes, sometime after a 10-15 minutes. So sadly I can't listen to a tape from beginning to end without trying to press play again, and again, and again....Not recommend.
