Fractal Design FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-BL - Define XL R2 Computer Case (Black Pearl)

Nachdem mein alter Dragon altersbedingt und durch etliche Umbauten etwas lädiert war, außerdem mit den Dämmmatten gefühlte Tonnen wog, habe ich mich entschlossen, einen neuen Tower zu kaufen.Der Fractal ist unglaublich geräumig und lässt eigentlich kaum Wünsche offen. Es fehlte lediglich eine der Antivibrations-Gummi-Unterlegscheiben eines Festplatteneinschubes, werde das mal reklamieren und schauen, was passiert.Endlich mal ein Gehäuse, was aufgeräumt aussieht. Konnte fast alle Kabel unsichtbar verlegen, die neuen Gehäuse sind schon ein Unterschied zu alten Zeiten.Allerdings ist die Ausführung der Festplatteneinschübe nicht optimal. Sie sind auch unten geschlossen und durch die eher mangelnde Luftzufuhr befürchte ich, dass meine Festplatten, inklusive SSD, um einiges wärmer werden, als vorher. Da hatten diese nie mehr als 28°C, da vor den Festplattenkäfigen jeweils ein Lüfter seinen Dienst tat, welcher in den Käfg integriert war. Ein Feature, was ich wirklich sehr vermisse. Dass man die Käfige drehen kann, ist nur bedingt hilfreich, da dies auf Kosten der Aufgeräumtheit geht.Die Luftzufuhr durch die beiden Frontlüfter ist durch die Bauart der Einschübe und der Käfige eher grenzwertig. Hier hätte man mit Schlitzen oder Löchern einen wesentlich besseren Wirkunsggrat bei "Einbau Quer" erzielen können. Oder eben nur Einbauschienen, was ich ohnehin für besser halte, so ist mir das alles zu "dicht" und lässt mich befürchten, dass höhere Temperaturen negativen Einfluss auf die Haltbarket meiner Festplatten haben könnten. Ist natürlich Unsinn, da wir hier von maximal plus 6°C sprechen werden und 35°C ja nun gar nichts sind.Da ich persönlich doch einige Dinge optimieren würde, gibt es "nur" sehr gute 4 Sterne.......Werde das Ganze beobachten und wenn die Temperaturen mir persönlich "zu hoch" sein sollten, wohl in den sauren Apfel beißen müssen und die Käfige drehen. Dass es trotz quer gedrehter Käfige anders geht, zeigen andere.Außerdem wären SATA und Stromanschlüsse hinter den Festplattenkäfigen nett gewesen, dass hat sogar der kleine Tower eines anderen Herstellers in unserem Haushalt. Aber ich verstehe dass, da ja sonst das Feature des Drehens sinnlos wäre.Was noch verbesserungswürdig wäre, ist eine zusätzliche LED für die Festplattenaktivität. Aktuell kann man die vorhandene nur als Power On oder HD LED nutzen. Nicht soooo wichtig, aber ich bin es seit Jahrzehnten gewohnt, dass es so ist. Kann mir ja auch LED Lüfte besorgen, dann sehe ich ja, ob der PC an ist, weil hören tue ich ihn kaum noch. Das "Lauteste" ist jetzt die Grafikkarte bei Volllast und die ist schon leise, bzw. wusste ich gar nicht, dass man die hören kann (GeForce GTX 1070)...... :-)

if you don't mind the plain and same time stylish look go for it!it is very large, solid and heavy and quality case.it looks very serious and professional and timeless. i bet it will look the same in 10 years to go.i am glad i got that one, instead of other toy-like cases with bells and whistles.and it is quiet, but make sure to use proper fans.

Esperaba más de la caja, es gigantesca y poco ligera (culpa mía por no haber medido) pero sobre todo el aislamiento acústico no es ni mucho menos una maravilla.

I've been rapidly swapping components in and out of this case while building my ideal setup. I've gotten very familiar with working in and around it and am overall impressed. This is a serious case, it is not a toy.. well actually yes it it!Pros:- Fantastic case with very high quality features all around.- Lined with a thick, heavy, sound deadening material, very dense. Noise control is very good.- Fan quality high. Fans are super quiet. Three fans included. I mounted two fans in the front grill and one fan in the bottom of case.- Lots of room behind motherboard to run wiring. Rubber grommets feel quality and do a good job handling wires coming and going different directions in the same cutout.- Cooler Master 280L closed loop 280mm water cooler fit perfectly in the top mount position.- Extra blanking panels made of sound deadening material included (2). I put one on the mesh on the back of the case, and one on the mesh in the side panel. Air comes in through the front and bottom, goes out the top.- Cooling is very good especially given the quietness. I'm running a OC'd FX-9590 and TWO monster OC'd Powercolor 7990 (3 slot cards), amazingly heat and noise are not an issue. Who would have figured! I mean its not dead silent, but its far from screaming even during 3dmark 11 runs.- Enough I/O card slots to mount the two 3 slot 7990 and one slot wireless PCI-e adapter, I don't think I can add any more cards.- Looks understated and I feel like it looks smaller than it actually is.- Fits my Cooler Master 1200w Pro Gold like glove. I like the rubber studs that keep the power supply suspended from vibration and the cooling fan location at the bottom of the case to keep cool air circulating from bottom up.- Lots of drive caddies that support mounting of both SSD's and 3.5" disks. The two larger cages have lots of mounting options. I'm able to keep all the disk cages AND still fit my 7990s I used the middle disk tray as a rotated "wind tunnel" to direct air from the front of case right onto the GPUs.Cons:- It is heavy and the rubber feet make it hard to slide around. It really needs to sit on the floor.- The Corsair h100i, a 240mm closed loop water cooler mounts to the top grill, but there is space all around the sides where the 240mm grill can't fill the void. I wish Fractal Designs made it more clear which components were the "optimal" fit vs just fitting. would have saved me some toiling. I had even called them on the phone and they didn't have a good answer as to what to recommend, that said it was nice to actually have a real phone number to call where an actual human answered and was friendly.- I'm at a loss here.. can't think of anything else to be critical of.
