Here's some TADPOLE FACTS: Q: My Tadpole isn't moving. Is it dead? A: Probably not, it can take up to a day before the Tadpole explores the Habitat. Q: How long does it take the Tadpole to become a Frog? A: 12 to 16 weeks with regular complete weekly water changes. Q: My Tadpoles were doing fine and then next day they are dead. What happened? A: This is usually a water problem. If you accidentally introduced hand lotion or soap into the Habitat during a water change, or forgot to add the water treatment to tap water, or overfed and have dirty water for too long then it will harm your Tadpoles. Q: Do I need a heater, filter or gravel in my Habitat? A: No, room temperature water is best, filters may take away the Tadpole's food and gravel makes water changes very hard and isn't necessary. Q: Can I play with the Tadpole or Frog? A: No. A Tadpole's skin is fragile and is easily damaged if handled improperly. Q: What if I can no longer care for my Frog? A: Please do not release the Frog outside. Your Frog may not know how to survive in the wild because it has not learned to hunt on its own. If it does survive, the Frog may endanger local wildlife by out-competing local creatures for the same food sources. About Your Leopard frog-- Frogs can live 5 years or more in captivity. An adult Leopard frog can grow to 4 to 6 inches over several years

Just don't do it...
I was surprising my daughter with 2 tadpoles to enjoy watching develope. The box arrived totally crushed. Somehow the tadpoles were still alive. I'm experienced with creatures of a variety of kinds and tadpoles were a fun addition to our home. But what I didn't realize is this wasn't going to be something fun to watch for a month....this is a process that will take the entire summer to get an adult frog. Also, i didn't expect in the directions to state that you're not suppose to release the frogs....so now I'm stuck with pet frogs. I bought caterpillars from this company too which you release and they know how to find food, so I'm not sure how a frog is unable to hunt, kept in captivity it has to still catch crickets...so I'm sure it could catch them in the wild too. But with that said, we've had the tadpoles for many weeks now, one tadpole was totally fine then suddenly dead. Like active and eating in the morning and dead by evening. Water was properly treated and cleaned, they were both eating well and active. Then one just died. My daughter was devistated. The remaining tadpole is doing fine but not developing at all. I guess I expected to see back legs by now but nothing. The water is being changed properly and still nothing is happening. I'm wishing it was more explicitly stated that these take A LONG time to develop AND state is big bold letters that you're not suppose to release them. I never would have ordered them if I'd known. The tadpoles we have on our property develop quickly so 16 weeks seemed very long. Over all not happy with both the tadpoles and the caterpillars I ordered from this company and I won't be ordering again.

Hot & humid Alabama
Awful experience receiving the package. The tadpoles were DOA (dead on arrival). Actually they arrived in the latter stages of gross smelling decomposition. I had to air out my home, while getting my daughter away from that traumatizing experience. Thankfully I was able to take her for some lunch and ice cream. I contacted the store (not Amazon) via emaiI following an email to Amazon. We received the package on a Saturday morning, so I didn’t anticipate any return emails until Monday. The reason I gave this product 3 stars is because not only did I receive an email, but I was completely reimbursed for entire price Sunday evening. Now that’s customer service! Keep in mind I live in hot & humid Alabama, we can experience all four seasons in one day anytime of the year. The company sincerely apologized and told me to keep any extra materials that was included in our purchase. I would recommend trying them out, maybe order them in the winter months.

Overall it's a great experience.
I wish they sent more tadpoles instead of two. I found out it's not worth the money because you only get two tadpoles and they don't live long enough for you to watch them turn into froglets or frogs.

I never thought I would find tadpoles this time of the year, but I did at Amazon.
The tadpoles were perfect! Our granddaughter is having so much fun watching them mature into frogs!

They arrived alive & after four months we have a froglet!
Augury 21 update : He has pushed out his front arms one at a time. We now have a froglet!!July 29 update : His little legs are growing quickly! No front arms yet!Update: one of our tadpoles died within a week. The other is doing excellent! He sprouted little legs finally yesterday!!I was very nervous to order these after reading done of the negative reviews. We live in Southern CA so checked the weather carefully to be sure it was within the recommended parameters. Sure enough, USPS put our package on a truck for delivery, then back to distribution! We were so worried! The tadpoles had an extended 24hr journey sitting on a truck but arrived absolutely fine! They were a little slow moving at first. We used the included water treatment & food pellets. It has been a week & they are thriving! I’ll update my review & let you know if they make it all the way to becoming frogs - but so far so good! I have a very happy 6 year old girl! They’re surprisingly fun to watch - though that could be because we’ve been quarantined almost 2 months lol Very happy with this purchase!

Terrible Experience
I purchased these tadpoles to replace one that arrived dead. This order came with two new tadpoles. One died not long after it stopped growing. I had the other one up until yesterday when it died. The second tadpole developed tiny leg and never grew past that. I tried multiple things at the advice of my petstore reptile person and it didn't help. My kids were very upset and so am I for putting in so much effort with tadpoles that clearly have developmental issues. I did everything right and even grew one from the original purchase and he's a happy little frog now. Something wasn't right with the two tadpoles I received from this purchase and it was on a genetic level. Waste of money and life.

Alive or Dead?
First time all four came dead second time around two were alive and two were dead. When we got the first batch thought maybe they need a day to move but after two days realized they were all dead. If you receive them with murky (yellow green water) smell water and they aren’t moving they are dead. Two that were alive where moving and in almost clear water.
