decent specs and sound for a low budget speaker
I purchased these for my brother as an upgrade, I have installed many systems over the years and although these are not top of the line they sound pretty good for a set of pioneers not to mention they have some good specs. He's happy with them and it helped add some bass and drown out some of the roar from his mud tires :)

Great low cost replacement
I purposely chose the G series due to its lack of depth. I had window mechanism behind the speaker and didn’t have a lot of room for a big magnet. I installed these in the doors of a 72 Lincoln Continental Sedan.

Overpowering bass, but nice sound overall.
When the factory speakers died in the rear doors of my 2006 Isuzu Ascender (GMC Envoy/Buick Ranier/ Chevy Trailblazer), I purchased a pair of Planet Audio PL63 3-Way Car Speakers to replace them. Seven months later one of the speakers died, so I purchased these Pioneers to replace the replacements. These are pretty nice. Installation was a breeze; fits the existing bracket holes & cutout. The bass is overpowering (a nice problem to have for a change, since normally it's difficult to get good bass response from a "budget" speaker), but easily controllable with the audio player's built-in EQ system. The bass will rattle the speakers if you push too much volume; didn't have that happen with the original speakers or first replacement pair. Between the rattle and overpowering bass, that's why I gave 4-stars vs 5. As for the mid and high ends, yeah, they sound a little muffled, but overall a nice sound. I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially considering the price. I'm happy with them. The question now is longevity.

For 2016 STI base.
Bought these for my 2016 base sti and my head unit isn't powerful enough for the full potential of this speaker so they give off a little buzz.. I only replaced one door speaker and the stock speakers sound better. So if you have a base sti I would look at new head units first

Good overall tone
Installed these in my 2010 Chevy HHR and the sound is night and day. Good overall tone, even before setting my EQ.

Horrible Bass
I finally replaced these speakers in my SUV. I blew out a factory original and replaced all four with these thinking I would get an upgrade. Trust me, these are a downgrade. The compliance of the speakers is so loose that when you try to push some power to them, they run out of voice coil for the magnet gap. They sound hollow if you give them too much bass signal. Not only that, I pulled one of these speakers apart, and found that there are no wires running to the tweeter. There is a coil, but unless they're using induction, which I highly doubt, that tweeter is just for show. Look at the angled image above. You cannot see from where that tweeter is being fed. These are complete junk as far as I'm concerned. I put four Scosche 3-way speakers this time round, and the stereo sounds so much better. Their compliance can handle the bass without the drop out hole sound. I don't understand the high ratings from other purchasers and users. I sure wouldn't give them that type of rating. Good luck if you purchase these. You will be disappointed.
