Viltrox 23mm F1.4 STM Autofocus Large Aperture APS-C Lens
This lens has been doing great there are a few things i like on it better than the Canon 22 mm one is the size now i know a lot of people talk about the 22 mm。 it's perfect size for like just walking around street photography type stuffbut when you're doing video neither of these lenses are stabilized and so the lens being bigger and heavier has actually been an advantage when shooting video handheld now this lens actually works pretty well with the digitalstabilization i'm using it right now this is without the digital is trying to hold it as still as possible and i found that it can give some really great results now where this lens reallyshines is where the m50 doesn't and that is low light i'm shooting at f 1.4 this is how this same shot would look at f 3.5 at f 2 which is what the 22 millimeter shoots at this is the biggest advantage that this lenshas over every other lens that i have used on this camera now of course for vlogging the lack of stabilization and then the title focal length make it not as good for vlogging but viltrx issupposed to be releasing in a 13 millimeter f 1.4.Vlog on this 23 mm is also great experiencd, since i got this lens it has barely been off of my camera i have used it so much for photos which by the way this is a great photo lens i know i normally talk aboutvideo on this channel but taking thumbnails this is a great lens for it for me taking pictures of the family this lens gives you the ability to take really beautiful photos low light b-roll you can do it with thislens logging you can do it with this lens this lens is basically an alternative to canon's 22 millimeter for video i have actually liked this lens better as i said because of that weight it's a little bit heaviera little bit better for handheld video the digital is i've actually thought walked better onthis lens than it does on the 22 millimeter now.

Lots to love! Great depth of field and FAST lens -- so inexpensive!
Using this lens as the prime for talking head videos and Zoom calls, and I have to say, I LOVE how it looks!Opening up the aperture to f/1.4 gives A LOT more blurriness to your background. It's like the lens is writing your face a love letter -- your eyes are in focus, your nose is out of focus, and because the depth of field is so shallow, your background becomes much more blurry. That's important in video because you want the viewers eyes to be drawn to your face, not your busy office background. With a slower lens, the eye keeps trying to read book titles or fighter out what's behind you; with the shallow depth of field you'll be the only thing in focus and you'll pop out of the background that much more!(The difference between this lens and the Canon 15-45mm, which only does f/4 at this focal length, is IMMENSE.)I also love that you can manually set the aperture OR let the camera decide, that's not a feature I've seen in many lenses! This $250 lens INSTANTLY added about $1k in perceived production value to my videos.I haven't tested any image stabilization or still photography with it, but for my needs it's a Heck Yes buy.NOTE: In low light situations, for some reason the autofocus got confused on the original firmware. Went to the manufacturers site, downloaded a firmware update, and the problem hasn't recurred.

Frustrated
So I purchased this lens for my Canon M50 Mark ii and its not working properly. When I try to use the lens with my LCD screen the aperture will not stay set and the shutter just keeps opening and closing on its on. When I look through the view finder it doesn't do it. Is this lens compatible with the Mark ii? Are there some settings on the camera I need to change to make it work? HELP

Excellent portrait lens for Canon M50 etc
I needed a portrait lens for my Canon M50, and after doing some research on Youtube discovered this amazing Viltrox Lens which was about half the price of the Canon 22 mm alternative. It has a super bright aperture of F 1.4 [Canon just F2] and an amazing depth of field. The build quality is superb and they also provide a hood.Autofocus is also super on the Canon. The only issue is the proximal Aperture ring which can get shifted from 1.4 accidentally while handling the camera. The display will show the change in F, if you are careful to notice it.Manual focus also works with the ring provided distally.
