Q: Can you please confirm that the given measurements (19 x 18.2 x 10.2 inches) are definitely in inches? This seems quite large!

Lina, the Width is just at or just over 18 inches, the height is at or just about 9 inches and the depth for the bottles is 3.5 inches. Mine fits comfortably on the wall above my 30" range with about 6 inches either side of it and below the range hood about 4 inches, above the range surface about a foot and 4 inches (I have a wallpaper border running around my kitchen and the spice rack sits just above that. Yes, the dimensions seem huge (they are misprinted), but it really isn't that huge. This was the most compact spice rack I could find for all the different spices I use. Many of the spices included I don't really use, but a labeler for the bottle caps and some new spices changed that. It's not that bad to keep dusted and clean. Just keep up with it and it shouldn't become a mess. This really is a nice rack.

Q: Is there a bigger selection of the refill spices? Most of these are not ones I normally use.

freespicerefills.com you can see what spices are available here. Shipping for 1 is 5.75 so they are charging more for shipping to account for the free spice. Cheaper to go to your local dollar store if you can purchase them for a $1, if not it is a good deal. You can order however many you like at a time but shipping costs go up. I think for 10 spices it came to $10.

Q: Can this be hung up and down instead of sideways?

Yes you can. But it wont hold as many spices. The top horizontal line hold 4. If you turn it, you can put one on top. But the rest wont fit.
