This is real cast iron and needs care!
I absolutely love this thing. I'm a year round, backyard barbecue enthusiast! Weber is my favorite and I find them to be the easiest to use/clean and the most reliable charcoal grills on the market. This cast iron grate fits my 22" Master Touch perfectly. This is real cast iron and not porcelain coated. I am NOT a fan of the porcelain coated products. I find the coating flakes off with a lot of use. They can be easier to clean, but don't last as long in my experience. Cast Iron on the other hand, requires a lot more care, if you want it to last. However if you season cast correctly, it can act just like non-stick cookware. Don't believe me? Then read on. To start off, this is "PRESEASONED", but I have yet to buy a piece of cast that appears having seen a drop of oil. Everyone who knows how to care for cast knows, OIL IS CAST IRONS BEST FRIEND! The first thing I did was wash it is soapy water and dried it thoroughly (10 mins) on the grill at 200-250 degrees. (This is only time you should have to use soap on cast iron.) I then heavily oiled the top and bottom (Canola Oil) and placed it in 2 large kitchen trash bags. One inside of the other in case of a puncture. I then laid it on a flat surface (unfinished basement or garage floor is recommended) and sprayed an additional ¼ cup of oil over the grate while inside of the bag. Try to get as much air out of the bag as you can and fold over the top to keep air out. This thing isn't cheap and since I have more time than money, I let it soak for 2 days. 1 day with the top facing up and 1 day with the top facing down. This might be overkill, but I believe it will helps thoroughly season cast. Believe it or not, cast is porous and it will absorb oil to its center. Then I removed from the oil, wiped clean and let air dry on the grill for a few hours with no heat. Once dried, I heated on the grill for about 3 hours at 250 degrees or approximately 12-15 briquettes. Then I let it cool and lightly oiled AGAIN before cooking. This is so important. ALWAYS oil your cast before cooking! I get great sears, no tempering (dry-heat spots) and very little sticks to my cast. I did use a full vortex charcoal ring and got the grate to 800 degrees range. This definitely removed my seasoning and needed some TLC after that, but it didn't crack! The best advice I can give any of you reading this, is to NEVER, EVER, EVER, use a metal scraper or metal brush on anything cast. Not even one of those pumis stones. You will ruine all of your hard work in seasoning, because metal objects will remove the coating. Instead, invest in a heavy duty plastic scraper/brush or let your grates cool and use the coarse side of a kitchen sponge. Also, I find it best to use oil to scrub it, instead of water. Yeah, I said it. Use oil to clean your cast. Trust me...it works. Rinse well, wipe clean and let it dry. Then lightly coat with more oil after every use, especially if you don't use it often. If you don't cook in the winter months, I would recommend storing indoors and away from excessive moisture. If you do the above with any of your cast iron cookware, you will have many years of success(no rust either) and thoroughly enjoy your investment. I hope you find this to be a helpful read and my experience helps you enjoy your cast grates/cookware as much as I do. P.S. Aside from the initial wash, I never use soap on cast iron. Best barbecuing to you!

Perfect for Recteq Bullseye 380 Deluxe
Perfect cast iron grate for Recteq Bullseye Deluxe. Two pieces make handling easy and easy access to drip pan if using one. Heavy duty.

Great fit for my Weber 22
Great fit for my Weber 22" grill. I prefer cast iron grates to the stainless steel or enabled steel because I can get a good seer. The surface is fairly flat so small food doesn't roll around. The center grate is easy to remove or insert, but gotta be careful where you put it if it's hot. I haven't tried, yet, but was thinking of putting a wok on the grill with the center removed.

Well made heavy cast iron grill
Excellence cast iron grill for the Webber 22’ kettle BBQ. Have used about 3 months, is now well seasoned and like a non-stick surface. Excellent grill marks. Would definitely buy again.

Exactly what you want, Heavy, Fits Perfect - No Brainer
Yes, this is good. Thick, heavy, cast, exactly what you are looking for. Fits perfect on a 22" kettle. I was happy to 86 the old wire grill. Drops right in place, takes no effort. Seems durable, will only know until after months of use. Do one good charcoal "burn-off" before cooking food on it. Even if that means just starting it an hour before actually using it - you will want to get the protective/manufacturing oils off it. I "clean it" by burning off the cook by closing the lid and letting it burn down. Then a quick brush-off before my next cook. Seems to work fine. I'll probably do an intentional seasoning before winter (writing this in Sept). I use a chimney to prepare the coals/chunks, I dump in the removed middle section but the coals will spread out. I don't want to have to remove the whole grill when dumping in coals - so I just use extra coals. (you'll figure it out) Very glad I got it. Hoping it lasts and doesn't rust but happy so far.

Great Choice for Your Weber Kettle
I have had these grates for maybe about 6 months or more and they are doing great on my kettle. The clean easily with some foil and then I oil with avocado oil after cooking. Over all a great experience with no rusting. I suspect that if I keep them oiled they will last basically forever. I have no complaints.

Great buy but cracked middle section with high heat
Perfect except for small cracks in the middle section after cooking for a few months with the vortex charcoal cone which gets hotter than my thermometer will measure(over 600). I assume from getting too hot? Otherwise great buy And still in use

Heavy Duty, Well Made, Nicely Finished
I’m very happy with this grate, it’s very heavy duty, well-made, and as a bonus that finishes extremely clean and well done. There are no casting flashes are rough spots on this cast-iron grill, which is not something you find every day. I bought this for my Weber kettle to replace the old, original grill/grate. This grill has even heat distribution, stays hot and the removable center as a bonus when using a Vortex charcoal system. I like the fact that you can remove the center and tend to the charcoal. It is surprisingly heavy, be aware of that, it’s not a lightweight grate, be aware of that if you are unable to lift heavy pots and pans.

I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews. The grill grate arrived to my address in Australia unscathed & in good order - it was packaged very well. The cast iron grill grate is very good quality and so easy to clean, takes like 2 minutes 7 is easy if seasoned right to start with. I have used it maybe 10 times now with a Vortex grill cone packed with charcoal to the top and had half the sear grate and back of the outer grate as hot as the kettle will go with no cracking or discoloration. Excellent product. Only one small issue to date is most of the GBS kit fits except the Weber sear grate - no issue really as the sear grate with this is just as good although not quite as thick or heavy. Excellent product & a major upgrade to a Weber kettle if enjoy cooking on a clean grill. Get a hinge and some seal gasket off Amazon & your Kettle will be so much more user friendly & a pleasure to cook on.

This is a good grill and retains heat well and gives nice grill marks. The only issue I have with it is the casting is upside down. Its triangular and the wide side is facing up and should be the other way around.
