BUY 3M COMMAND STRIPS/TAPE!!
Bought this for my Beretta 391 Urika Optima Trap. Couple shots and the thing would go flying off with the double sided tape it comes with. I tried doing 2 strips of their tape, as the product comes with one attached and 3 extras; worthless! Absolutely worthless tape it comes with. So, had a bright idea. How's about those 3M picture hooks that have the double sided tape that holds tough but doesn't damage your wall when removing them? Works like a charm! Bought a refill of the large strips, I think 6 to a package, bada Bing bada boom. Hasn't went flying off once and I'm confident the finish on my expensive gun is protected. I've shot 6 rounds of trap with the Shell Catch and only had a hiccup within the first 4 or 5 rounds. Had to bend the wire down slightly but it's totally worth it. Catches the shells every time now. The only wear on the gun is along the ejection port where normal wear would be. I highly recommend this over a clip on shell catcher that will surely hurt the finish on your shotgun. Spend a bit more and protect your investment

Works pretty well on my 11-87
Works pretty well on my 11-87. With my trap barrel that has a knock-down pin to prevent shells from flying far, it works nearly 100%. Very easily to load through when it's engaged, basically like having nothing in the way. Today shooting my shorter barrel without a knock down pin, I had to bend it tighter and it worked about 80% of the time. I found when I had it bent tight enough, I couldn't easily load a single shot through the side port without squeezing the brass through the wire which would open the bend back up after a couple of rounds. I had to make sure I put the brass into the front of the port first, which was a little fiddly. I think I'll try one of the clip on style shell catchers, as they are black and removable. The only reason I wanted this one was for the simplicity of loading, but if I have to feed from the front anyway, I'd rather have the removable option. I do wish it came in black oxide or cerakote or something, the bright nickel is pretty ugly on a nice blued gun. Also, I had to file all the sharp edges down on it before mounting, it definitely has rough and sharp edges from being manufactured. It would be nice if they tumbled the plates before assembly.

Works for me!
I have a Stoeger M3000 Semi-Auto Shotgun and I shoot clay/trap with it. I wanted something other than a rubber band to stop the shells from ejecting and hitting the person next to me. Don't get me wrong, the rubber band worked, I just had to keep adjusting it after a couple of rounds for it to catch the shell. Of course, I had all the questions running through my mind if it really works, will this malfunction, will it fail to eject the shell, etc. So far, I've gone through 300 rounds and the Save-It Shell Catcher does what it is suppose to do. A couple of times the shell drops back in the chamber, but all you have to do is stick your finger in it or lift the shotgun up and pull the shell out. I squeezed the wire part a little tighter just to make sure the shell doesn't fly out and widened it after every shot to fine tune it. The shell catcher comes with 3 more pieces of double-sided tape. I had to remove the one that was on the shell catcher, not sticking onto shotgun, and replaced it with one of the extra ones which is still holding up. I really like this product and when the misses gets her semi-auto shotgun, I'm more than likely going to slap this on it too.

Installs easy, works OK.
I attached it, but my shells instead jam. I think it may a matter of just getting used to it. May re-review again later.

Buyer BEWARE !
Shell catcher worked fine on my Model 1100 for the first 2 rounds of trap that I shot. My third time out I was about half way through the round when a shell failed to feed and I had to pull back on the receiver handle to re-feed the shell. Took a pretty good chunk out of my trigger finger when it got caught between the receiver handle and the raised tab on the back of the shell catcher. Had to finish the round of trap bleeding like a stuck pig. Pulled this sucker off my gun and threw it in the trash. Will get a T&S Shell catcher or just pick my shells up off the ground.

Had to trim it to fit my SX3. It's fantastic!
I bought this two weeks ago, it arrived on time, and I could not wait to go try it out. So Friday night I cleaned the receiver and went to dry fit it into place. That's when I realized I had a decision to make. The forend on a Winchester sx3 comes down on an angle and kept me from putting it where it should be placed by about 3/8's of an inch. I was thinking I'd have to Dremel my forend to make it fit, and was ready to do so but I held off and went to the range to talk with a guy who has three SX3's. He suggested I trim the shell catcher instead. I thought it would weaken in too much, but. His last thought made a lot of sense.. "It's cheaper to replace the shell catcher than the forend.." So, I took my time drawing a line carefully and ground it down with my bench top grinder. Mounted it with the sticky tape and let it set with a couple of big rubber bands holding it firmly to the receiver all week. Took it out today and it was almost flawless. It caught 99/100 shells. I knew after two or three shots, I didn't even need to worry about it coming unglued. After seeing how mine held up, another friend went straight over too Gander Mtn and picked one up. Cost him about a 1/3 more in the store than here... Great product....

works on my Baretta - A-300
Got to try this on the trap range today and it worked perfect. Caught every shell, and was easy to reload the next one. Easy to install according to directions on back of the package it comes in. Saves picking the shells up,and my back. Shot 50 rounds perfect. It is every thing they say it is. don't worry about the double sided tape it will hold and still can be removed if necessary. They give you 3 extra fit pieces. Couldn't find the plastic clip on for the a-300 so i went with this and it works fine.

Works great. I am using a Remington 1100, installed it as per the instructions and worked flawlessly through several rounds of trap. It was nice not having to pick up the hulls after a round and more importantly, not annoying my neighbour while shooting. I highly recommend this shell catcher!!!

It does the job. I have two shooting buddies that also use the Birchwood shell catcher and we all agree that it works well and would recommend it

I would give this shell catcher 4 stars. It doesn't catch every hull that gets ejected, usually letting about two or three hulls through out of a box of 25. However those two or three hulls just drop to the ground so they wouldn't disturb a shooter to your right. It's better than any clip on type shell catcher I've tried on a Remington 1100 using Remington Gun Club hulls. The device is easy to install and I like the feature of the spring being able to be swung down to shoot doubles or removed completely for hunting. Cosmetically it leaves something to be desired and I can't be bending down picking hulls off the ground all the time and so I am satisfied with this product. I can't find anything that works as well for my loads. I haven't tried taking it off so I can't comment on how awkward that might be to release the glue. I was very pleased with the efficiency and speed that Amazon.ca delivered it.
