Pro For Sho 34dB NRR Hearing Protection Ear Muffs - Highest NRR in Compact Design, Ear Protection for Shooting, Mowing, Work

My old ear muffs finally gave up the ghost. I was looking for something cost effective with good reviews so I gave these a shot. I do a lot of chainsaw work, stump grinding, and tractor work. These puppies keep all that noise at bay. They work great. They were a bit tight for the first hour or two, but then relaxed just enough to be comfortable. I also like the lower profile. I would buy these again.

Great product... does exactly what it's supposed to.This was recommended as the best available of its type, at a good price, and I am glad I asked. Price was good, performance in noise reduction, fit, and quality confirmed the recommendation I got was spot-on.

I got these solely for the purpose of blocking out the sound of my Beloved Husband's very loud raucous snoring and they are doing exactly that! YIPPEE! I find them comfortable enough to sleep in, the cups are soft enough that I do not notice them after a few minutes. Last night, I wore my wired earbuds with these on top and it was great because all I could hear was my movie, no straining to discern the dialogue of the movie from the snoring of Beloved husband. I bought the teal ones and the color is really pretty. These are not bulky, they do not look or feel bulky when I am wearing them, either and they fold up small and can be stored neatly on my bedside table during the day when they are not in use. However, they are performing so well at blocking out the sounds of snoring that I think I may have to use these when I am going to the gun range or doing almost anything where I will be around loud noises. One thing to know before you buy - the headband is not adjustable, it is a nicely padded and fixed one-size headband and since it fits me (5'2" woman with regular "woman sized head", I will venture that it might not fit a larger man or someone who knows they have a large head). The ear cups are attached to the headband via a metal piece and that is where the sizing can be adjusted, the ear cup can be pushed up on the metal piece to make them fit a smaller person and pulled down to make them more suited to a larger person. I was able to find the perfect fit easily and wear them comfortable all night the very first night I wore them. I am so pleased! We have tried many methods to try to block the snoring sounds - foam ear plugs, waxy ear plugs, fancy noise-canceling ear plugs, headphones, expensive noise reduction headphones/ear muffs, etc but these are the very first ones which have been effective against my Beloved Husband's snoring and they are very effective. Great product. Exactly what I was looking for. With its light weight and slim design they can be worn for hours. I have a smaller head and they are very comfortable. I’m using them to protect my ears while mowing the lawn. Should have started many years ago.

I bought the Pro For Sho 34dB NRR Ear Muffs for range use, and I’m seriously impressed. These are some of the most effective and compact ear protection muffs I’ve used — great for shooting, yard work, and even noisy job sites.

The good: they are reasonably comfortable- this is a strongly personal preference and depends on how much pressure you can tolerate on your head. Unfortunately, a reduction in clamping force reduces the performance of any headphone style hearing protector. These are quite slim and fold compactly, making them more "portable".Not so good: While the noise reduction of the Pro For Sho was good, it is no where near NRR = 34. I subjectively compared them to the 3 Peltor models shown in the graph. The Pro For Sho was closest to the Peltor H7 with NRR 27. The best Peltor I own is the X5 with NRR 31. The "Red" is a Peltor with NRR=30 from a big box store, but does not have a model number on it. It came with a 3M data sheet used for the graph. Both of the higher rated Peltors were noticeably quieter than the Pro For Sho. The NRR rating is an average of octave band data shown in the graph(it's how the NRR ratings are calculated).I like companies that back up their claims with published test data. Since Pro For Sho does not provide the Octave Band detailed test data like Peltor does, I estimate they are NRR=27 protectors. That's 7 dB less than advertised. For reference, even a 3dB difference is a big deal. Each 3dB drop in noise level (3 dB increase in NRR) reduces the sound energy reaching the ears by 50%.I suspect the Pro For Sho's slim size results in a trade-off in performance. By comparison, the Peltors, particularly the X5, are very large. I'll be returning the Pro For Sho since I don't need the slim, folding design. Not a bad hearing protector, but for very loud noise, not the best choice. (btw: I do sound testing for a living)
