"Cut-It-Yourself" Universal File Bars 4-Pack (for Metal Cabinets)

Bought a used lateral file cabinet with rails missing. My husband had no problem cutting the rails and they fit perfectly.

I was so excited to finally be able to use one drawer in my filing cabinet. his is the second "Universal" bar I have purchased. The first one was too short and this one well nothing fits. I took the metal bars to my local lumber yard to have the cut professionally to the right length. The clips are the problem, they don't fit my filing cabinet and they don't fit on the bars they came with! Definitely not worth the risk when they apparently charge a return shipping & restock fee. I will be throwing in the trash!

I bought these so I could utilize the 5 drawer lateral file cabinet that I found at a Habitat Resource Store for $50. The hanging file bars were missing and these worked great. After you take an accurate measurement of one drawer they all should be the same length. Cut them to size and use the mounting brackets so you can start adding files. You will have to use a hacksaw or some sort of power tool that can cut metal in order to cut these. I used a hacksaw and made pretty quick work of making my cuts. I now have a $700+ file cabinet for about $100 and a little bit of labor.Pros: Exactly what I needed, well made, easy to install, easy to cut with the right tools, and costCons: None I can think of

purchased these because i got a file cabinet that did not have any rails. cut them to the proper length and installed them. I did not even need the screws to hold the side brackets in place because they fit snug as it is.

I was unable to use the product because they didn't fit with my file cabinet, which is an average one Then I was charged for shipping them back and to add insult to injury I had to pay a 20% restock fee, for metal bars and clips. The box it came in looked like it went through someone else before me and they put a new sticker on it.

Not only did these not fit, but I had to pay to ship them back. I wouldn't mind if the mistake was mine, but it's their BS advertisement that these are universal, when they are not.
