Inexpensive and red
Let's be clear, I quite like this toaster but why is it so hard is it to buy an appropriate toaster in the UK? Why don't any of the manufacturers recognise our basic requirements? Like every other 2 slice toaster that I have seen on this site within a reasonable price range (up to £40ish) this one fails, like all the others, to toast a whole slice of a standard UK sliced loaf. I bought this one after checking review after review on this site. Having abandoned the quest for the holy grail of a full sized toaster, I chose it because it was literally both cheap and cheerful. I have no truck with paying more for a product simply because it looks pretty or matches my kettle. (Why flatter my kettle? It's functional, not fashionable.) For such a basic item (little more than a heating element a sprung framework and a bimetallic strip) toasters ought to be better sized for the UK market. This one lights up on use in a cheerful sort of way, and has the usual features (variable browning, warming function, defrost function, crumb tray - I mention this because so many listings on this site make such a big deal of what I would consider the barest minimum). But it is more than usually inconsistent - if toasting four slices of bread, the second pair will get much browner than the first pairIt's most significant drawback though is its complete inability to toast a standard crumpet. Although it had coped with a giant square crumpet (which mist have been thinner than it looked), the standard one was too thick, and did a little damage to one of the slots. In this incident the mechanism proved oddly frail. Bagels or muffins would be right out and I wouldn't even consider a poptart (but then I don't like them so that's OK).I do like the colour though. And as the previous toaster went bang, maybe red for danger is an appropriate look. I doubt it will have great longevity but I could be wrong. In the meantime, it's good enough for now.

Tiny toaster!
Beware this only takes small slices of bread, so don't think you'll get your big farmhouse slice in it! Suffice to say, it went back!

Does what it should
It is nice but does look a little cheap. It does what it should, but it is small so misses some of the bread haha
