Wonder Woman ABCs (DC Board Books) Board book – August 1, 2014

I think this book is darling! The colors are bright and fun, true to what I saw on my monitor. (My photos look darker from the lighting)A few things that might be helpful:1. In the online preview, "look inside," it shows the text reading "womanOs." The book I received is written "woman's."2. Another reviewer felt the the page for "x" was crossing the line. I didn't feel like it was bad. I can see how the wrong idea can come across with a stretch of imagination but considering the target age range I don't think that will be a problem. Everyone is different though. I added a picture and you can decide for yourself before you purchase the book.Again, I love the book! I thought it was very cute and totally recommend it!

This is a fine, brightly colored ABC book centered on Wonder Woman, her costume and her fictional world. A is for the Amazing Wonder Woman (not Amazon?), B for her bracelets, C for her crown/tiara and on and on...The art is bright and cheerful, similar to the JLA cartoon of the early 2000s and the language is mostly at a toddler level. Our twin girls (21 months old) seem to like it.I'm a bit annoyed though at how everything, EVERYTHING is about WW. Rather than say Wonder Woman introducing general vocabulary and concepts, the whole book is about her, her lasso, her invisible jet... Rather than an ABC book it feels like an introductory marketing guide so young readers will be familiar with Wonder Woman when the next cartoon/movie/TV show comes out.This Wonder Woman isn't interested in peace or justice, she wants to talk about being a princess and her invisible jet.(And then there's X. I know X is a challenge, books pretty much have to go with xylophones or X-ray, this book has Superman checking out Wonder Woman with his X-ray vision. How the heck did that make it past the editors?)Which I guess is what I should have expected.I should have remembered that Wonder Woman, like most other superheroes, is a corporate mascot, and is only there to sell us comics, t-shirts and movie tickets. But somehow I hoped DC would try to make this more of an educational book than a blunt tool to market to young fans.

By the time your child can read some of these words, they aren't learning their ABCs anymore. LOL. But let's be real -we parents who buy this book for our kids do it more for us than for them anyway.

I usually love the DC Board Books, but this one wasn't quite as good as the others. The art work is rather goofy and the ABCs aren't very creative. That being said, I was glad to see Wonder Woman being featured in this series since the books are for my daughter who is a huge Wonder Woman fan.

Cute book. A little awkward to read aloud. The sentences were a bit wordy. Such as c is for crown that Wonder Woman wears. Her crown is known as a tiara.

This is one of my favorite of the children's books with the female heroes. I think "T is for Wonder Woman's super hero TEAM" is my favorite, as she looks like she's leading the entire justice league (including Hawkgirl--so she's not the only female on the page.) I love to see such an iconic hero presented in a strong way, without her also drowning in pink. Even Wonder Woman's gladiator armor makes an appearance. Good job DC comics for making a book with a female super hero without making it pandering/stereotypical.

I ordered this as a baby gift for a friend. She THINKS she is wonder woman. However, little does she know I am. Anyway, since she is such a fan I thought this would be a great baby gift. It is enjoyable reading to your children when it is something you enjoy as well. I am sure her baby will know her ABCs by the time she is two :) She loved it and was something different to receive.

First, the site said it would take an extra day or two to process this, but I got it right away.Second, I bought this book for my niece, but I kind of want to keep it! It's gorgeous, it's thick and I love that the letters are about how Wonder Woman is a Hero who protects Earth with her Mind and Strength. There aren't enough empowering superhero products aimed more directly at girls. This was totally worth buying.
