David Busch's Canon EOS Rebel T5/1200D Guide to Digital SLR Photography 1st Edition

This book is fantastic, it is a comprehensive and complete guide to your new Canon Rebel T5 digital camera. Yes, there is a manual that comes with the camera but they are usually woefully inadequate. So, I went online and purchased this book.Here are the Pros and Cons of purchasing this book:PROS:1. It has plenty of pictures and diagrams so that you can visually see what the author is describing for the camera and the lenses2. It has excellent documentation in "easy to read" format, even the most uneducated novice camera person (like myself) can understand what is being explained.3. BUT, the explanations are also good for more advanced camera users. Each of the functions is well documented and there are good tutorials on which functions of the camera will provide the best picture for what you are doing.4. The layout of the book is good, you can do the "Quick Start" as I like to call it or dig into the more advanced topics; a. The first two chapters are a quick start to explain the new camera and get you up and running quickly b. Chapter three gives you a "Roadmap" to your new camera and is also very useful for your understanding c. Part two, Chapters 4 through 7 give you the more advanced features of your camera. My suggestion is that after you have read Part one and worked with the camera for a couple of weeks you will then want to come back to Part 2 and get advanced training. d. Part Three is the Advanced portion of the book for people really serious about their work. 1) Chapter ten, "working with lenses" is a must read before you go out and purchase additional lenses for your camera 2) Chapter eleven "Working with Light" is a good instruction for the novice on how to use light and flash to your advantage.5. PRICE: the book is worth the price, frankly I don't know how they include so many "color pictures" in the book and offer it for this price, it's almost like they are willing to loose some money so that you can have a great instruction book.CONS:1. Frankly I don't have any with this bookI feel this book is excellent and a must buy for anyone getting their first Rebel Digital Camera

I chose this photography book over the Dummies version that is out there. After looking through the Dummies book, it did not go into the detail that I was looking for in regards to exactly how to setup my camera. The manuals that come with the camera are good for general how-to setup, but I wanted more information on what the different settings on the camera do and when I would use them. I chose to purchase the actual book version instead of the kindle version. It is just my personal preference on how I learn, but I prefer to have a book that I can flip through. This book was easy to understand, and I did not feel lost or clueless at any point. If you are a beginner photographer, this camera and book are for you! Two great choices!

A friend had loaned me her copy of this book and I liked it well enough to buy one for myself. It covers a wide gamut of photography topics, from the basics to some fairly abstruse elements. As a long-time photographer (since 1970), but new to digital SLR cameras, this is proving to be supremely useful. The contents are arranged so that it's easy to skim through the whole book, pausing to read in depth about the elements I expect to use soon, and to make note of areas that look intriguing for later reference. And in addition to offering that technical information on things I fully expected a camera to do, it also clued me to some fancy dancing that my old film cameras never dreamt of. This book is a gem!

I took a class and this book was recommended. I have used it several times when I was trying something different and so far, it has helped me take better pictures. Sometimes it is a bit hard to find what I am looking for, but that's because I'm not using the right term.

We are just starting to read the book, topic by topic, to learn how to use more options on our Canon EOS Rebel T5. We feel this is a well-organized book to assist our photographic "education". Good photos and examples, chapters seem well organized and clear directions to assist in answering specific techniques and questions. Would recommend this to anyone who owns the T5 and who don't have access to a personal teacher.

Fantastic guide book. Very concise and easy to understand. Have bought other books this author has written and have been very pleased. this one was bought for my teen daughter to figure out her new camera and pictures are coming out fantastic with technical help this provides.

I am a beginner. The camera was a gift for Christmas, and this book was recommended to me by a friend. It is a definite 'must have' for anyone who is just starting out. This book holds a wealth of knowledge for the beginning photographer. The author has done a great job of writing this book with humor making situations relate-able, and it is easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it.

This book explains so much and teaches you the functions of your camera and how they affect your photos. I was feeling a bit frustrated with my camera until I started reading this book. It teaches you so much about the lenses, lighting, how to create certain effects in your photos and a wealth of other info.

I ordered my Cannon Rebel T5 camera on a whim one night. When it arrived I was somewhat overwhelmed and unsure where to start with it. This book saved me. It gave me a good understanding for what I had brought and how to use it. This book is well written and a valuable guide.

Not much of a reader but managed to get through this in a few days and learned so much from it!

Clear and to the point. Could be a lot more "personalized" though. This book is clearly part of a series on Canon cameras where they change the name of the product and quickly adjust it to the particularities of each model.
