Let’s be honest, if you’re reading this review what you really want to know is, “should I buy this?”. The short answer is YES and here’s why.First let me say that this is my 3rd FoodSaver. All of them are different and serve different purposes. However, since getting it, this particular model has now become my daily driver. It’s perfect for those day to day chores like resealing meats, cheeses and whatnot, but it’s also great for leftovers as well. The removable drip tray is always welcome (my largest model doesn’t have this feature) and all of my current accessories are compatible with it so you don’t have to rebuy everything (can you say BONUS). I absolutely love its small footprint. It takes up so little room that it stays on my kitchen counter. For as small as it is, it seems to be equally as powerful as the larger models (even though this obviously isn’t the case) however, somethings do seem to take just a bit longer to finish, but it’s really not noticable. It is compatible with 8” rolls and 1 quart (or smaller) seal bags. If you are still using an older model one feature you will definitely like is that the “vacuum” and “seal” buttons are separate so you don’t have to use the vacuum function to seal a bag. You can just press “seal” and be done with it.All that said, if there is one negative, and this is kind of a big one. It would be the controls. Switching between the open, store and operate functions can be quite a challenge. So much so, that if you suffer from arthritis, especially in your hand or poor hand strength you are definitely going to want to look at another model. My mother has very mild arthritis in her hands and can not use this at all. I thought it might become easier over time but as of now, no such luck.Besides that, this really is a great little unit.Bottom line, if you’re looking for a food storage system that can live on your countertop without taking up a bunch of space this may be the Foodsaver for you. Very disappointed. Bought this to help keep food fresh while we all stay home and shelter. Tried it out to make sure I knew how to use it ( worked fine) so the next day I bought $500 of fresh meats and chicken for us and our extended family to package up for everyone. Got 1 packet done before it stopped working. What a mess on our hands, all that food needing to be packaged up and no Sealer. Of course, it wasn’t FoodSaver’s fault that I bought a lot of stuff but after it had worked the previous day, why would I think it wouldn’t work again? Basically the sealer panel wouldn’t heat.Everyone seemed to be out of stock on Foodsaver replacements so I took a chance and bought an Anova sealer. LOVE the Anova. It’s more compact, seals any size bag (this model of Foodsaver only does 8” bags—which also wasn’t clear to me when I bought it) and it was less expensive. It’s more of a clean European looking sealer. Low on the counter top and sleek looking. Bummed about the Foodsaver (friends have them and love them) but happy to have found the Anova.

People - listen closely.Do not buy this product.Foodsavers have two jobs. 1. Remove air from bags, and 2. Seal said bags so no other air gets in.This product does neither of those things. I have used mine no more than 8 times. I have tried EVERYTHING to make it work properly. Simply put, it doesn't work. Bags in my freezer now have air in them. Food I attempted to sous vide got waterlogged. It's a bad product. Do not buy.

Don't waste your .money. My unit from the '90s worked WAY better!

If you buy in bulk, own a sous vide, want to marinate like a pro or just save some bread for later, this device will change your (kitchen) life. This smaller model Food Saver fits well into a cupboard already teeming with cooking devices. Unlike those other devices however, I've used this more in a month than I have the others in a year!The Food Saver is so easy to use I'm mad at myself for not getting one sooner. The initial price is what's kept me from buying all these years, but I've wasted so much money throwing away freezer-burnt food, moldy bread and mushy vegetables that this purchase will pay for itself.Because the specially designed bags/rolls allow all the air to be sucked out from around the food, there is no place for ice crystals to form in the package that create the inevitable freezer burn. Vacuum-sealing food to marinate not only speeds up the time, it turns the meat into a virtual sponge for all those flavors. Throw that bag into a pot with your sous vide then onto the grill, and you've got the moistest, tastiest chicken breast you'll ever eat in your life! You can stop the suction at any point during the process, so you can save buns and bread without squishing them flat and they spring right back. I may upgrade to a larger (wider) model if the volume of foods I seal increases, but for now this one is PERFECT. I can honestly say I'm thrilled with this product, it's efficiency and it's cost. Highly recommend!
