Retro-Link Wired N64 Style USB Controller for PC & Mac, Grey

Very good controller overall. The buttons feel great, the analog stick is a tiny bit stiff but I expect this will loosen up as I use it. Anybody hesitating because you think this won't be as good as a real Nintendo controller, I can tell you its very close to it. Beyond what I expected.

For the most part, the controller is fine, but it will not let you hold down the Z button. This has happened to me on 2 grey controllers. Funny thing is, we have a black version of this and it works properly... weird

I have been through three of these and none of them worked properly. The first would work for a minute or so, then stop registering inputs and continue sending whatever signal was given when it stopped working. The second had a deadspot on the joystick. The third intermittently worked for a second or two during game play but would not allow buttons to be held, if a button was repeatedly pressed, sometimes it would register, sometimes not, making the gameplay impossible. Definitely looking for a different controller. In the cases when game play was possible, the joystick did not work well for fine movements, it would jump from no input to mid input, making some most game play okay but detail movements very hard.

The controller itself feels very nice, a good recreation of the real-deal.My particular controller is gray, and each button has a good "give" to it when pressed and waiting for it to "snap" back. I use mine for running RetroPi on the Raspberry Pi 4B 4gb.The software is able to recognize this controller instantly, and more importantly the analog stick can register values between the main 8 cardinal directions (so you can get readings of North, North-west, North-northwest, etc)My main problem with this controller is that the analog stick readings for the bottom-right (south-east) quadrant are significantly reduced compared to the other directions.What I mean to say is that holding the control stick to the bottom-right will at MOST be read by your software as being mildly-tilted. For games where pushing the control stick as far as you can = running, this controller will interpret a full-tilt to the bottom right as walking.I have taken this thing apart to check the soldering and wires themselves and cannot determine what is making this problem.Evidently other buyers don't always see this problem; others do.Given that you cannot be sure the quality of build you will recieve, just ask yourself -- would you want to take this risk, or find a more reputable seller?

Controller was fully functional and made a lot more sense for N64 games than the generic USB gamepad I had. Some minor differences from an original (well-preserved) N64 controller:- The buttons on the face of the USB controller protrude a bit higher from the surrounding plastic.- All the buttons, as well as the D-pad, are louder on the USB controller and feel a bit different to use.- The USB controller is lighter.I can't compare the analog sticks right now, but I can say that the stick doesn't seem to be quite centered in the hardware dead zone (which *probably* differs from that of the original). This is probably par for the course, though, and will not affect your experience unless you're looking for precise tilt thresholds in e.g. SSB64.This technical note won't be relevant for most buyers, but the D-pad is exposed as a pair of axes as opposed to a hat or a set of buttons.

Great value

Great. Works perfectly with my OpenEmu N64 emulator on macOS 10.12 ("Sierra"). I saw some complaints in other reviews about centering the analog stick; I didn't have this problem. Also, the stick is truly analog, in the sense that how far I push it controls how "fast" my character goes, for example. I saw reviews for other models that seemed to lack this feature.

The response is slow. The stick is extremely sensitive, making unintended movements.I bought this for use with a Raspberry Pi for Retropie gaming. If you are buying a controller for the same purpose, and your Raspberry Pi has Bluetooth, I would recommend the wireless Nintendo Wii U gamepad. I got the QHSD one on Amazon and it works great.

Tengo en casa un Nvidia Shield TV, como las cajitas de Roku o Android pues, pero hecho por Nvidia! tenía ganas de jugar viejos juegos y las opciones "oficiales", son caras... puesto que en México el NES y SNES classic, los venden como si fueran de oro... así que me puse a buscar emuladores compatibles con el Nvidia Shield, el cual incluye un mando estilo Xbox!! Ahí emulo NES y SNES, pero no tenía suficientes botones como para un N64... así q me arriesgue un poco y la verdad... estoy muuuy contento!! poder jugar clásicos como Mario Kart, Ocarina Of Time, Mario 64, pffff juegos que jugué en mi infancia, pero q hoy q mi N64 no sirve más, esta fue una excelente opción!!

Feels kind of cheap but only £15 my son says it works with his emulator 'project 64' and says it works great.

Works perfectly! Does everything you need it to do in order to play games on an N64 emulator! All buttons work, control stick moves smoothly, perfect! Just perfect!

El control lo estoy utilizando para Windows 8 en el emulador de Project64, al conectar el control usb la PC no lo reconocía (creo que es normal), tuve que descargar un driver (Xpadder) para que reconociera el control y configurarlo, después de estas maniobras, todo perfecto.Sólo que para juegos de puntería como 007 el joystick no es tan preciso para apuntar, pero para mi es un mínimo detalle.Estoy contenta con mi compra, sin duda, volvería a comprarlo.
