Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Deluxe Edition Hardcover – March 2, 2021

The original comics were among the most read in my collection when I was young. I memorized strength levels, alter ego names, powers and enjoyed reading the history of everyone, especially the villains. One problem with the original books were the poor print quality and cheap paper, which led to dull colors and text bleed through.This book fixes everything. I didn't realize how faded my books were until I opened it. The colors are bright and the art is beautiful. Its a little bulky for "light" reading, but its a small price to pay for having an incredible reprint.Edit: As I read through the book, I notice some gaps in the letters here and there...similar to some of the printing errors in the original books. Due to the bright colors of the pictures, you can sometimes see them through the opposite page, which can distort some of the words a little if you have vision issues. These are minor points that don't change my score at all...the artwork keeps getting better and better as I continue reading.

My only quibble with this otherwise great reproduction is that it didn't include "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe '89 Update" #'s 1-8. A follow-up mini-series in the same format that had revisions & new characters the original didn't cover. It's omission makes this volume seem incomplete for more obsessive among us. Perhaps another collection is forthcoming?

This is a great Omnibus and to echo a earlier review, the one fault it has is that it did not include the 89 updates. This along with the previous Omnibus of the original Handbook were welcome editions for me. I have my originals but the are bagged and boarded.This make me wonder if Marvel will make Omnibus versions of the Master edition of TOHOTMU...guess we will see!

I used to have this collection when it came out in 1985. I had been looking for this for many years and was very excited when I saw it had been reprinted in one manual. It was just as great as I remembered it and the only negative is that the update printed in 1989 isn't included. It still is most certainly worth every penny!

Expansive collection of one of my favorite series ever. Fantastic coffee table book and conversation piece.

I absolutely love this HUGE tome! Utterly brilliant blast from the past! Check it out. It's HUUUUUUUGE.

I got my book 3 days after the release date. I gave this HC a 4 out of 5 because a few pages had the heads trimmed off unlike the originals I have in my 3 ring binders. Yikes! Binders??? Yes I took my original series and put them in 3 ring binders for easier viewing. This Omnibus version is a great way for a back up and better for the aging eyes. The 89 UPDATE is no great loss. It lacked a load of greatness this second series had going for it. I regret missing out on the 1982 vol 1 series that ran for 15 issues. Some of the best character depictions were taken out and done by other artist in this series. Fingers crossed that they do a reprint for that title that came out in 2019 HC now out of print. - Cheers and happy reading on a rainy day. I recommend this book for Ages 7 - 107-Enjoy! Excelsior!!

Great reproduction of the original multi-issue Marvel Universe encyclopedic mini-series.

Just as complete as you'd want an encyclopedia to be! When our comic books were our own and not some political statement alone!
