I'm outdoors quite a bit, often in semi remote locations for both work and leisure, I ordered this to supplement some of my other firefighting equipment...It takes a little bit of practice to ensure you are using it correctly...I would suggest you place a very small amount of char cloth in the plunger (at first I filled the cavity but later found that 2/3 - 3/4 full is great - this is a tiny amount!)Once you have the char cloth in its time for the action!I found that having the plunger section coming out from your clenched fist so the plunger is by your little finger. That way you can bang your fist down onto the ground, a stone etc, I'd do it with some force.It lights the char cloth!It's good they provide char cloth and light fibre tinder to place the smouldering char cloth in. Great plus that it comes in a small tin case.All in all great bit of kit. Worth buying if you like the outdoors/bushcraft
