The Campaign: A Masterclass in Narrative Most FPS campaigns are forgettable "Michael Bay" explosions, but Black Ops is different. Following Alex Mason through the Cold War, the Bay of Pigs, and Vietnam, the story is dark, claustrophobic, and genuinely surprising. The performance by Sam Worthington (Mason) and the return of Viktor Reznov (Gary Oldman) create an emotional weight that is rarely found in the genre.
