how long is the track

Hi Jared - this does not include the track - only the train pieces.

The train has no button that I can see. Putting in the battery simply turns it on with no way of turning it off. Is this incorrect?

Hi - There is not a separate on/off button. The buttons on top make it go and stop, but the batteries shouldn't be used when it is stopped.

Does this work with other tracks like melissa and doug brands?

Not for certain i have brio my sis got the same thing and has Hape brand track too and said it fit on there.....so my guess is its a standard size wooden track but not for certain

The train we got has no button at all. How do we even turn it on?

Once the batteries are in just press down on the "spot" on top and it activates it. I had to go to a train store to find out.
