Monroe Quick-Strut 171377L Suspension Strut and Coil Spring Assembly for Jeep Commander

I'm a retired mechanic and have been using Monroe shocks for over 50 years. This is the first set of Quick struts I have purchased. I purchased 171377L&R for my Jeep GC 2007. The original right front was leaking and very noisy at 94,000 miles. Measured front fender above wheel and gained 1 1/4 inch in height. I was going to install myself and saw on YouTube the problem getting lower bolt out. My local garage only charged me for two hours labor. Am I glad I didn't do. Vehicle handles better and no more noise.

They worked perfect on the 2008 JEEP Commander I had , installation was easy if you have a impact wrench or driver and certain mechanic tool.

Fit and finish is solid, but I've read the customer service is terrible and that they fail rather quickly- time will tell, I'll update the review in 6 months. Ride height and quality of ride is solid. Easy install, and no more noise or bouncing

my 11yr old suspension was shot, purchased the R AND L (sold separately) front quick strut assembly and also purchased the rear monroe shocks (check part #s). install was fairly easy if you have some basic mechanical knowledge took just a little over 30 min for both rear shocks and almost two and a half for the front two struts ... approx. 3 hours total install time ... couldn’t be happier, the ride isn’t super smooth but it’s not horrible by no means!! i’m sure it will break in over time. i did gain a touch over an inch in height and this gain was compared to stock height not the sag height of my old suspension hahaha. great product(s) would highly recommend. *update - front left strut has failed and makes a horrible “knocking” noise ... i installed them approx 6 months ago - no trail riding or rough terrain ... also no response from seller or manufacturer - DO NOT PURCHASE. normally i wouldn’t think twice about monroe products and on occasion it’s possible for “pieces” to fail ... but non responses from both seller and manufacturer is inexcusable and has me worried bout the failure of the remaining products still installed on my jeep ... not happy.

Bought 171377L & R for my 2006 jeep grand cherokee limited 4.7 4wd with 150k miles and it gave my front end a major facelift, the install wouldve been easy if it werent for some super sized bolts that had been in place for 13 years lol, after the install my jeep was raised 3 inches higher than it was with the stock struts and springs. After the springs settled it is still 1 inch higher than it was and feels so much better to drive on. No more bouncing all over the place from my front end, Jeep handles like new now and no more creaking noises from struts and springs. I recommend replacing your upper control arms while you're at it just so it's all new under there, that is gonna be my next job. Very happy with this purchase.

Worked great for my 2007 jeep grand cherokee. I recommend changing your upper and lower ball joints and bushings at the same time. If your struts are bad, the joints have been working overtime and should be replaced. Also the lower strut arm (clevis arm) bolt is notorious for freezing in the bushing on this model of cherokee. Test the bolt before buying and replacing the struts. If the bolt is frozen, buy a new bolt along with bushings on Amazon. In most cases the bolt has to be cut out. The old tried and true heat and beat works sometimes but you will still need to replace the bushing. If you don't have a press to change the ball joints and bushings you can rent one from an auto parts store or take the easy route and just buy new control arms with ball joints and bushings already installed. Little more expensive but saves time and headaches. Remember to get an alignment immediately after installing.

I used these on my 2006 Jeep commander with Hemi engine. They never worked well, I had them removed after just 2000 miles. 0 off-roading. The Jeep would bounce around at highway speeds, and crash horribly with the slightest pothole. After my mechanic removed the easy struts the left one was a full two inches shorter compared to when I purchased them. I had additional damage to my vehicle because of this, and needed to have parts replaced. Because my mechanic re-used the strut mounts that came with it, Monroe will not refund anything. I can’t express enough how disappointed I am with the quality of these ez-struts. The customer service policies match their product. Do yourself a favor and do not buy these. I had them replaced with OME coils and Bilstein shocks and the difference in quality is astounding.

easy to install

A year ago I bought two front ones, left and right. And now I got that the left side has sagged. The distance from the center of the wheel to the wing arch on the right is 50.5 cm, and on the left - 48 cm. I wrote to the manufacturer, they are silent, I wrote a second time, silence. Now I have a situation where the lower coil of the spring touches the adjacent one, although the spring is not broken. I don't recommend it
