“Little Ovens”
I bought these booties for a Northern Minnesota winter Boundary Waters trip on Feb 19'. My cozy, Western Mountaineering Sequoia sleeping bag, keeps me warm except for my feet when temps get down in the single digits. These booties should do the trick!!I have worn them around the house, and find they are like little ovens. I love the inside elastic located right at the ankle, which keeps these booties from slipping off. The foam bottom does slide a little left and right at times though. The elastic around the inside ankle area is noticeable when sliding on, but not when wearing them. A draw string cinch at the top of the booty will keep any snow out when venturing around camp. The foam padding on the bottom, is a great balance of pack-ability (not too thick) vs warmth/comfort. My shoe size is a men's 10. I ordered a medium after reading they run large. The mediums fit perfectly. As far as wearing them in my sleeping bag, I find the slight rigidity of the foam bottom is not an issue. They slide around the inside of my bag just fine, and give a little bit, if resting your foot on the other leg.Update: This picture was taken at camp in Northern Minnesota during my winter camping trip. With the temperature around 14 degrees, with windy and snowy conditions, walking around in these Western Mountaineering booties was a treat!! With merino wool socks, along with these “little ovens” my feet were toasty and dry around camp.Great Job Western Mountaineering:)

A necessary piece of equipment for Winter camping
These booties really saved my feet from almost certain frostbite when the temperatures dropped unexpectedly low when we had that polar vortex. My cold feet warmed up inside my sleeping bag when I wore two pairs of wool socks inside these booties. No way the socks would have caused my feet to warm up without these booties. And they're excellent for stepping out of the tent at night, and walking around camp in comfort. So you really don't want to be walking around in the snow and then getting into your sleeping bag, but that's what I had to do in an emergency. I wish they were a tad smaller, because they do have a tendency to slosh around on my foot while walking, so that the sole of the bootie ends up at my ankle, and I'm actually walking on the side of the bootie. I also purchased a felt insole which really gives these booties added warmth and structure while walking around camp, however the felt insole needs to be velcroed to the inside bottom of the bootie, because it doesn't stay in place otherwise.

Light as air, Warm as toast
Oh, so toasty! I wore these in single digit temps while camping in the Sierras recently and my feet stayed warm, even while walking around camp. I did not think they'd be that effective, quite frankly, because they are incredibly light. Based on comments, and the size chart, I ordered a medium (I wear a size 9 hiking boot) but it was far too large. I returned them and ordered the small. Perfect. I wish I could have gotten the ice blue color, but they were not available in the smaller size. Still, I'm thinking that the darker shade probably hides camp dirt better.Regardless, you can't go wrong with these bad boys. The money was well worth the comfort.

Apres-hike perfection
These booties pack tight in the bag, and come out like a hug after the day is done and the hiking boots are off. I put them on while my feet are still warm. I wear them with thin dry socks I keep in reserve for that purpose. Their soft contour, a semi rigid sole with a puffy neck, glides inside the sleeping bag without hang'ups, but I "overcooked" my feet the first time I tried it (*outside temp was freezing'level and I have always "run cold", so WOW). Two little elastic bands, one at the ankle, the other at the cusp, with the clasp, "seal" the air snug within, and my daughter, who wears the same size, upon realizing this, didn't want to take them off and give them back to me. I guess we'll have to get some more.

Really excellent quality and warmth!!
Unbeknownst to me, these were the exact same slippers that my son wore on a winter outdoor adventure class. Each night they would cozy up in their snow huts to sleep. Everyone had been given a pair of these to sleep in, wearing them in their very warm sleeping bags. I gave him this pair for Christmas, not knowing that he had already experienced their foot heating capability. When he opened this gift he was absolutely THRILLED!!!! They were even the same brand that were used in the back-country. I scored big time with my 22 year old son! However, when he wore them in his snow hut, they had been provided an exterior slipper to keep them from getting wet on the floor of the hut.

Great Booties, run large
I bought these for a trip to far northern Canada my husband was taking for a research trip with the US/Canadian armies. He was in weather ranging down to 40 below zero and said these were great for walking around camp or wearing in his sleeping bag. They do run large. He wears a men's US size10 in shoes and I got him a size medium, which fit perfectly. I may get some for myself!
