Works way better than I expected
Purchased to convert analog 3.5mm stereo jack output on my Epson 2030 Home Cinema Projector to Toslink digital to my Sonos 1 sound system (disappointing that Epson did not think to include a digital audio output from a $2k home theatre projector?!)Surprised that it worked at all based on price? Initially it was only producing faint stereo sound through playbar with no surround, all treble and little bass and very quiet. My Sonos system was absolutely awesome before with deep bone shaking lows and theatre quality punch. Very disappointed.Read other reviews that said converter is unable to separate the surround sound components for a 5.1 configuration? Contacted Sonos for help...Turns out my Sonos bridge had died at some point, the software was not updated for 8 years, and the sub and surrounds had disconnected from the playbar? After purchasing a new Sonos bridge, updating my app, and 2 hours with customer support on phone helping to get everything reset, the system sounds awesome again and it does play 5.1 surround sound very well! Had to turn the volume up considerably on the playbar, but it is thunderous again!!! Thanks Sonos!

Good for the price, but sound is attenuated
For the price, this is a good buy. It works right out of the box and does produce good replication of the input sound. The box is sleek, rugged and looks well-made; longevity is something that has to be determined. Two small gripes I have: The audio output from the coax is somewhat low relative to the input signal, and the label for the 3.5mm jack is an image of a headphone, which leads you to believe that it is a headphone output, but in fact, it is a stereo input to the device itself. This is a decent product and earns a recommendation from me.

Very Bad design.
There are lots of Optical to Analog adapters listed, but only 2 that are Analog to Optical. I want to take the Head phone jack from my Monitor and connect it to the Optical in on my sound bar. I bought 2 of these for 2 different systems. Both have the same issue. If you try to power it from the USB on the monitor it adds lots of static. I then moved the power cable to my PC. The noise was not as bad, but still there. I Isolated the power with a AC to USB power brick and this helped. I no longer hear the noise unless I crank the volume up on the sound bar, but it is still there and that keeps my sound bar from going to sleep. This happens with both of them. One connected to a Bose sound bar and the other connected to a LG sound bar. Who ever designed these did not put a "Noise Isolation Circuit" between the power connector and the controller. They took a good idea turned it into trash just to save 5 cents in parts.

Works with my Frankenstein turntable Setup
This does exactly what I need it to do with my Frankenstein setup of:Fluance RT80 Turntable >> This ADC via RCA cables >> Fiio BTA30 Pro via the supplied optical cable link that came with the ADP >> music via LDAC to my Sony WF-1000XM5 Headphones. This setup works until I can get some speakers that can take full advantage of the turntable.I like the all metal housing of this ADP and I also like the supplied usb cable that connects to my Anker outlet extension thing.
