Replacement Soldering Iron Handle FX8801 for Hakko FX-888 FX-888D Station

While not a 100% duplicate of a real Hakko soldering iron, for me- an occasional solderer, it’s an excellent replacement for an older iron whose heating element is worn out. Costs no more than the element itself and there zero work involved. If this lasts me 5 years I’ll be thrilled!

Replaced the OEM one that occasionally generated an error on the control box with this because it was half price. On first power up it heated for about 5 seconds, then caused the control box to power off, no display. swapping back to the OEM returned the control box to normal. Also its smaller then the original and doesn't fit the holder properly, as well as the cable is about 10" shorter than the original. This isn't an issue in my situation but just be aware that's the case. I returned this one and opted instead to spend the money for the original .

Yup, just what it says. It's a direct replacement. Works great. I bought this because sometimes I need a really wide/massive tip and other times I need a small tip. It's easier to just unplug one iron and swap for the other than trying to fiddle with the hot tips.

The neck where the handle meets the heating element is a smaller diameter than the original from Hakko. So, it doesn't hold correctly in the stand. It will stay there, but it sags and can easily fall out. Mine didn't heat well at first. Normally, when you turn the Hakko unit on, it ramps up to the target temperature. This one went right to 750 degrees. The original tip could melt solder, but went cold when it touched a copper pad. I took it apart and didn't see anything wrong. I re-assembled it and installed a different tip, and now it works fine. It ramps up to 750 when I turn it on and it melts solder and creates good solder joints.

As you would expect, this isn't hakko but a knockoff. It barely heats up. Nonstop cold solder jobs. Makes your hakko solder like a $10 soldering station. Definitely recommend biting the bullet and buying official

Great replacement. I doubt it's a genuine handle but it works just as well as the original. Cable is 6 inches shorter than OEM.

this Item works as a replacement..Doesn't get as hot as the original... parts on it are not exactly the same as the original and don't fit..?? perhaps this is a counterfeit..? or Hakko has change things with out notification.... Pros..it came quick which got me back working.. conclusion....when I got my replacement heater for the orginal I am back to using it..
