Lasted 2 weeks
Installed as a water pump float switch. Was used inside a home and only worked 2 weeks before breaking. It does not appear that water was able to get into the housing so I am unsure how it failed so quickly. I will be purchasing a replacement and hopefully it works for several years.

If you don't have that then a vertical switch may be better suited.
This is a large float switch (see dimensions) with the ability to run two pumps thru one switch. I use it to operate a hydroponics system and it requires some electrical knowledge and soldering or outdoor twist connectors with GFI or other protected circuitry to integrate it into your system. At the top position the float opens one circuit and closes the other. At the bottom the reverse happens. The mechanism appears to be a ball bearing rolling in the housing with hysteresis. The depth of water travel is governed by the tether length and the needed angle to achieve the tilt to activate the switch. The plastic float weight was clunky but you don't need it, just a tethering point to anchor it. It requires some clearance so plan on that. If you don't have that then a vertical switch may be better suited.
