As an avid plant enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for high-quality growing mediums, and Better-Gro Sphagnum Moss has quickly become an absolute staple in my plant care routine. This isn't just any moss; it's truly superior! The quality is evident right out of the bag. It's long-fibered, clean, and free of excessive debris, which makes it a pleasure to work with. I've used it for a variety of purposes, and it consistently delivers outstanding results. For my orchids, it's simply the best. It provides that perfect balance of moisture retention and aeration that orchids crave, preventing root rot while keeping them hydrated. My Phalaenopsis and Cattleya orchids have never looked healthier, with vigorous root growth and beautiful blooms.Beyond orchids, I've found it indispensable for propagating cuttings. Whether I'm rooting a Monstera, Philodendron, or even a succulent, a bed of moist Better-Gro Sphagnum Moss creates the ideal humid environment, leading to quick and strong root development. It's also fantastic for carnivorous plants that require consistently moist, nutrient-poor conditions. What really sets it apart is its incredible moisture retention capacity without becoming waterlogged, coupled with excellent drainage and aeration. This combination is critical for healthy root systems, preventing common issues like compaction and suffocation. If you're serious about your plants and want to give them the best possible start or growing environment, I wholeheartedly recommend Better-Gro Sphagnum Moss. It's a premium product that genuinely makes a difference!

good value
I added some to the soil in the bag that my blueberry bush is growing in with the plan to plant some live Sphagnum on top. Interestingly, I noticed that a little bit of the dry moss wasn't really dead and is now a healthy, re-hydrated, green so I had to add a lot less moss than I expected.

So ok here's the deal....
I got a Venus Flytrap (native to the Carolinas) and ontop of 'special dirt' (Carnivorous Plant Soil) I got to add/ put this moss on top of said dirt. But Aggie (her name) seems to be enjoying this with a light misting in the morning and another at bedtime. So go go carnivorous plants.

Long time watcher, first time Moss’er…
Long time watcher, first time Moss’er…I’m fairly new to the rare plant game, but I have had my Monsteras for 4-5 years and after splitting, re-potting and propagating, noticed that the aerial roots needed somewhere to go. So, air layering it is! The aerial roots were doing ok in their make shift solution I came up with and had 3-4 inches of new growth. Soo, I Decided to purchase this brand of moss instead of the compressed brick sold by other brands. I gave it 4 stars strictly because of the hard “stem” like materials that took some time removing from only a small bit of the bag.

These expand so much more than I thought they would
Wow, these moss blocks soak up a bunch of water and become huge. I was actually shocked.

Great aeration for house plants
I mix this with peat moss, perlite, and some organic potting soil. My plants love the airy combination and they are all thriving. It has no smell and was completely dry in the bag. Wonderful product.
