LG Electronics GH24NSC0R 24X SATA Super-Multi DVD Internal Rewriter, Black

Purchased to replace a wheezing 10-year-old LiteOn unit on my desktop. Pleasantly surprised to find a retail package and not a bulk unit. Comes with mounting screws, manual and Cyberlink trial Media Suite DVD. I like the convenience of being able to burn right in the pc but don't do it often enough to justify spending a lot. So far, I'm quite pleased with my purchase.

I got this because it's the cheapest (name brand) CD/DVD drive I could find on Amazon. From my experience, multimedia drives are basically the same for most people. Unless you're writing data to a CD or DVD, you'll not notice much difference between a $20 drive and a $75 drive. It reads all the disks and is a nice luxury if I need to load something from a CD. So get this product if you want a nice, reliable multimedia drive that will not break the bank. You'll be glad that you did.

I use my drive for mainly for reading and writing DVD's (DVD, DVD-R, DVD+R). My computer is Windows 10 professional, 64 bit. I also have NERO burning and and play software. I installed the drive and Windows 10 found the drive and it worked fine. It comes with an install disk that installs CyberLink Power DVD version 10 and a diver firmware update utility but the compatibility list only went up through Windows 8.1. It had been my previous experience that Windows 10 is picky about DVD play software and had previously found early versions 0f DVD player software did not work in WIndows 10 - though I did not try the included version of Power DVD. The good: Drive runs slightly quieter than my previous HP DVD drive. Box advertises that it plays "skippy" disks better - Time will tell if this is true. It worked fine on the two disks I checked. Low cost. Needs improvement: LG support website lists this drive model as "obsolete" and does not have any support downloads for Windows 10 (It works fine in my system.) Note to LG: "obsolete or not" there is no reason not to offer driver software for Windows 10. If no driver required, just say that. I have some questions about the claimed max DVD+R writing speed. I was only able to write at "4X" to a DVD+R to a 2-layer 8.5G disk, but it writes at 24X to a single layer 4.7G disk. I am not sure if this is a media limitation for the dual layer DVD+R disk or not. Note: This drive lists capability for M-Disks which is yet another DVD disk option besides DVD-R or DVD+R that is supposed to have a longer life. However, this disk media is considerably more expensive than DVD-R or DVD+R. On the other hand M-Disks aparantly have the data capacity of Blu-Ray or about 20G, while dual layer DVD+R disks are 8.5G. I do not know if M-Disks can be played in a consumer Blu-Ray DVD player or not. In any case, in my application I only needed the capacity of a dual layer DVD+R disk and that blank media is cheaper than M-Disk media.

I know optical drives are becoming a thing of the past but if you're like me and still have need for a standard but good burner then look no further than this. This thing is blazing fast and quiet. Just solid all around. A perfect fit for my recent computer build.

When first placing the order for this LG model it was to replace another 22x speed LG dvd burner. When taking a second that was to see this was a 24x speed model actually turning out to be a slight upgrade from the previous model. Can't go wrong there!

This is trash. It takes this drive 10 or more minutes before it starts to transmit data. It clicks and clicks during this time. Very annoying. Put on your best jogging shoes and run downwind from this thing.

This Optical drive works great and has no weird noise when I boot up my computer like the last optical drive I had to return from another manufacturer so I am happy!!!

Perfect replacement for our church’s PROduplicator. However, the button to open the tray does not stick out as far as the others and I have to sort of hunt for it. I may end up sticking some kind of little peel and stick pad/bumper like you would use on a cabinet door to cushion it when it closes to make it easier to find. Not a huge deal but it is a little annoying. Hence, the 4 stars instead of 5.

Sirve muy bien, pero no creo que dure mucho, igual las apariencias engañan, dentro de seis meses diré si es duradera. 2022: HASTA EL DÍA DE HOY SIGUE SIRVIENDO COMO EL PRIMER DÍA.

Excelente lector, un poco ruidoso al leer los discos (que lector no es) pero fácil de instalar y de buena calidad por el precio. Mi SO es Windows 10 y solo tuve que conectarlo y lo detecto automáticamente

Simple, confiable, fácil de instalar y aun excelente precio!! Lo puse en un equipo bien armado pero para mi la exigencia de una buena unidad no era requisito pero si la inclusión de una, opte por esta, simplemente busque lo mas barato que habia en amazon, la agregue al carrito y sas! Me ha funcionado bien!!

Asta ahora me funciona muy bien llevo un mes usándolo y todo bien
