Premium Nutrition for Growing Kittens – Worth Every Penny!
Hound & Gatos wet cat food is a top-tier choice for fostering neonatal kittens. With high-quality, species-appropriate ingredients, it provides the essential nutrition growing kittens need. The texture is smooth and easy for young kittens to eat, and they absolutely love the taste. While it may be on the pricier side, the superior quality and balanced nutrition make it well worth the investment. Knowing my fosters are getting the best start in life with wholesome, protein-rich food gives me peace of mind. Highly recommended!

Is this supposed to be cat food?
I purchased two flavors (Chicken/Liver and Salmon), because I read about the brand on All About Cats. Only 1 out of my 3 cats will touch the stuff. I have a cat who will eat almost anything, including vegetables (carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, etc), and even he won't touch Hound & Gatos. I don't blame them. The food has an off putting smell and color, but the texture is the worst part. It's finely ground meat swimming in a large amount of water. It literally (yes, literally) looks like partially digested kibble that's been thrown up.As an insult to injury, the cans are extremely flimsy and the cartons they come in are unprotected during shipping. A large number of the cans are so dented, that you can't even stack them. In one pack 25% of the cans were dented and in the other pack over 50% of the cans were dented. One can looked like it had been stomped on.I gave the product a 1 star rating, because Amazon doesn't have negative stars. There are domestic-produced and foreign-produced Hound & Gatos. The products I purchased have the gold lid and were produced in the US.

Cat LOVES this food
Tldr: my cat is a picky eater with a sensitive tummy, but he absolutely loves this recipe, and it is really gentle on his bodyMy cats has had issues hold down his food (poor guy) since i got him last year as a 6 mo kitten. A couple months ago it reached a point where i knew i needed to make a change in his diet with the way he was regurgitating multiple times a week. A mix of dry and wet food has always been the easiest on my budget but after trial and error (portioning out dry food, making it wet, a bland diet) i realized he just isnt properly CHEWING the dry food and we needed to switch to a wet food.I found hounds and gatos on the blog allaboutcats where they do detailed ratings on different cat foods. Not only was i really excited with how affordable this brand is, but i was thrilled with the nutritional quality especially for cats with sensitive tummies!! Although i was scared about the flavor as i had read many reviews explaining how different cats wouldnt touch the food because of the flavor. As i stated in the summary above, we tranistioned him to this as his main food and he adores it. It makes me really happy to be able to give him food he loves and food that is good for him. I cant say enough how awesome this brand is for its price. Wet food is expensive regardless, but this price point is comparable to iams or other poorly rated cat food's but like i said has amazing quality - BRAVO!!

Most "soupy" texture of the flavors available. Cats love this flavor best.
Been feeding this brand for a while now with great success for my cats' overall health. Some H&G other flavors were initially liked, but then rejected. This flavor is constantly accepted, so it is my go to and I try to rotate other flavors once in a while and Gamebird is a good one to keep on rotation but the last case I bought of Gamebird was very thick whereas this chicken flavor is super soupy and runny. I can mix the two for a "normal" consistency. Chicken isn't always this soupy so I am not sure if the supply chain issues caused more water to be added or what.

Cat loves it! Good quality!
My cat loves it! Great quality—nothing like the watery texture some reviewers mentioned.

Some of the best ingredients on the market.
UPDATE: I confirm that this is hit and miss. If you get the actual "made in the USA" canned products, my review below stands; however, on occasion you may get cans that don't say "made in the USA," and they have silver lids rather than gold lids. The texture of the food, the quality of the can, and the smell are all a bit suspect, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm getting. My cats will still eat it, but it definitely seems to be lower quality, and it's almost certainly not made in the US. Took away two stars because of it.This is quality food compared to any super market, Petco, Petsmart, etc. types of food that you will find. This is second only to raw, freeze-dried, and human-grade food. There are no fillers in this product, except for, maybe, agar agar; otherwise, it's completely balanced, and you won't find any grains, legumes, vegetables, or fruits in these cans. Cats are obligate carnivores, and any cat food that contains these ingredients is not 100% optimum, but, as with many things in life, you have to strike a balance. Cats need most of their protein from animals - end of story. When I open these cans (I've tried the chicken and the gamebird), I have to admit that it looks and smells savory enough that I'd want to try. Okay, well, if that's too excessive, I can at least appreciate from the aroma and texture that my felines are going to have quite a feast. They love it.

One of few brands that both my cats can stomach
I have two British Shorthairs and each has dietary sensitivities, the Duck & Liver option is one of only two wet foods I've found that they can both eat without becoming unwell. They also both like it and have been eating it for a few years now.
