Great quality and feel
I bought these as a replacement for a cheap pair of vice grips that had broken. These Irwin ones are of very good quality, and are robust. They feel good to use, and have a very positive and smooth locking and unlocking action. I would recommend these, it is worth paying a few pounds more than you would for a poor quality item.

This long nose locking plier is solid.
I use this everyday for work. Locks pretty well and releases easily without hurting your fingers. The rubber grip is awesome.

Defect or normal.
Jaws not aligning when locked, lower jaw wobble about 2mm either side. There is a 1.5mm gap on the wire cutter when both jaws are close. I think this is qc issues See pictures
