For years I have been plagued by sewer odors, they were coming from by basement drain. Every day or two, I had to pour water in the drain to block the gas, in the summer time it wasn’t as bad as it is when there is less humidity and the dehumidifier is not working much, at least then water is going into the drain and helping. It was so bad, without water in the drain, I could hold my hand over the drain and feel the air coming out. Today I got these and immediately went to the basement, popped one of those in and immediately the odor stopped. I poured water in and it passed through and closed up blocking the gas from coming through. I am ecstatic ! It was always an embarrassment to have someone come to the house and we’d have to offer an apology and an explanation. No more, no worries. I’ve no idea how long these will last, so I’m going to buy more, they are well worth the money.

I have a 1 1/4" shower drain with no p-trap so odor was coming back from the septic. It's set in a concrete slab so not much I could do to fix it. I dropped one of these in. At first it drained very slowly, and then not at all. I pulled it and reinsert it and now it drains great. It seems to have stopped the odor. Inexpensive solution. We'll see how long it lasts. Very happy!

I attempted to use this product in a sink drain pipe with an air conditioner condensation line offset . Just didn’t fit well. These might be better suited for drain pipes that don’t have a condensation line offset, but for my application, they just didn’t work well. I may reconsider them for my RV one day to prevent grey water tank smells from entering the camper. These are well made and do provide a tight compression seal.

Looks like a neat thing, but doesn’t stop odors at all. Installed on shower drain (after a flexible tube, before going in pvc pipe) and after running water to test, smelled exactly like before from septic system. Also restricts water flow dramatically, now taking a shower fills the tub about 4 inches! Very disappointed with this product, and I got few…now in trash can…guess cannot return after one month

Muy buen producto

I purchased these blue handy dandy gadget earlier this year and wanted to give apple time to work or fail. So far they have taken away 100% of the septic smell. The two shower stalls I used them on did not have the pee trap installed and would have taken extensive rework to install one. This was a 10 minute fix and solved the smelly issue. A must buy.

The product page shows 4 of this device in the picture but doesn't state anywhere, afaict, that there are 4 in the box, which is what I received. Anyway, it seemed like a good idea but it doesn't work in situations where the at-rest water level line inside the drain is higher than the bottom end of the device when seated. This is the case with my basement shower which happens to be adjacent to the laundry tub behind the wall. You have to make sure there is clearance, otherwise, the water will not flow down. I did try to cut off a couple of inches from the bottom of the device, and that seemed to allow the water to flow. However the backflow from the laundry tub is so violent that it unseats the device, rendering it useless. I've decided to simply put a tub drain stopper in there for now during laundry days until I find a solution that works for me.
