Yas is one of the few coaches that has it right. He understands the entire training curriculum of a fighter and takes into consideration all the other things they may be doing that is stressing the body and requiring adaptation and recovery. As such he distills training for combat athletes to the movements that will have the greatest return and allow the athlete to be able to optimize their training of their combat technique of choice. This allows strength and conditioning to make the combat athlete better, not wear them. The book adds all kinds of tips on nutrition and recovery showing that he has a keen awareness of the science behind the athlete's programs and the physiology of adaptation for high performance. The book doesn't overcomplicate programming and focuses in on high value return programming which is so important when you are often training 2-3 times a day. Working with one of the largest fight camps in the country I can tell you this book is a blueprint for coaches, trainers and athletes to understand how strength and conditioning fits into a combat athletes's overall program. Put this one in your library and refer to it often and you or your athletes will get results.

Yas is respected across the world as a true master of his craft who is constantly upgrading his skills to ensure he is on the cutting edge of evidence based programming. This book is thorough in its scope, yet succinct in its information, giving the combat athlete and/or coach exactly what they need to perform at the highest level. With the recent explosion in the popularity of combat sports, most specifically MMA, there is high demand for a true and honest distillation of the research that is available on the subject combined with real world experiential know how. Yas has managed to juxtapose these two realities into a seamless read that will leave the reader empowered to take immediate, decisive action towards improved performance, whether they be a hobbyist, amateur or top level professional in the combat sports world.

Evolved Training Concepts
This is a great book for the professional warrior, sports enthusiast and/or the martial arts practitioner who want to develop their physical abilities. Mr. Parr has thrown archaic training practices out the door and has replaced it with thoughtful and evolutionary strength building and conditioning development training methods.

You're an Idiot if You Don't Buy This Book
There are lots of books out there about strength and conditioning, lots of "coaches," lots of health and fitness "experts," but few books worth your time and money and attention. This is one of them. No bull, no phony salesmanship, no psychobabble, just the facts ma'am and science. You want to get better at whatever you are doing? Buy this. Reading. Do it.

Every combat coach's handbook on training for performance!!
As a boxing coach and boxing gym owner, this book is one every coach needs to read. To my very pleasant surprise, he does ONLINE workout programming! I've put tons of people on to his online work that have achieved very good results in their fight game. For your fighter to be above the rest, they have to work with Yas Parr. Great book, from a very knowledgeable and certified Strength and Conditioning coach and not from a personal trainer (elite athletes vs Gen pop). I highly recommend this book and recommend you read many times, there's a good amount of information.
