Good product
Bought it to be used for an analog fax machine using a VoIP line/number. The software is not very intuitive, and the documentation refers to using mainly Cisco VoIP services. Thus, if you are going to use a third party VoIP service you will have to figure out on your own how to configure. However, once configured it works great!

Using with Ring Central
I purchase this to connect a "regular" (non-IP) phone to my Ring Central account. This allows me to use an inexpensive Panasonic wireless phone system with multiple handsets. Easy set-up, straightforward via the Admin Portal.

Simple and sturdy, but voicemail indicators uncertain and documentation is sparse
Works well and seems reliable. Using a computer and setting up the device using a browser is laborious, but reasonable. Downsides are (1) documentation is sparse including difficulty learning how to set up dial plans (how to translate keyed-in numbers to actual permitted telephone numbers, including rejecting forbidden numbers) and the fact that my 2-line telephones suddenly started sometimes and not always having voicemail indicators flash on both lines not the one with a message when messages were left. Dial-tone indicator for voicemail messages work perfectly, however.

Avoid
Purchased two ATA-191 MPP devices to replace Obihai 202 ATAs that were end of life. Since I'm familiar with configuring Cisco handsets, I was hoping that the ATA-191 support and configuration options would be similar. While quite a few of the configuration options overlapped, the ATA-191 offered fewer options than Cisco handsets or the former Obihai 202s and this made it hard to debug interop problems since my method has been to utilize Cisco handset options as closely as possible. The second problem was that one of the ATAs stopped booting two weeks after the return period lapsed. The documentation does not provide much help in figuring out what is going on or how to fix it, other than putting a paperclip into the reset hole and observing the color and blinking speed of the lights. Overall, a project I had hoped to complete within a few days looks like it will take much longer and so I am still relying on the Obihai 202s and probably will need to continue to do so for months to come.

Does not connect to CUCM
Do NOT be confused by the two different models. ATA191-K9 – regular model for Cisco CM ATA191-3PW-K9 – multiplatform (DOES NOT CONNECT TO CISCO CALLMANAGER) The seller would not even respond to my email.

Great unless you need support, which you don't get
I tried getting support because I could not get the firmware to upgrade. I followed their intensely badly written instructions to the letter. Tried restoring to defaults and redoing. Tried getting advice on the forums. Wasted lots of time. It could spend an hour and then boot to the old firmware without any errors. Logs unhelpful. So I tried calling Support. Nope, gotta have a contract number. How do you get one? “If you don't know, you shouldn't have bought our product.” There is no support if you buy one of these. Firmware upgrades are a long-standing problem, apparently, due to lack of memory. Regardless, the only form of support Cisco offers is getting your retailer to take it back. Two stars for quality of the product when it works.
