Reliable, beefy rim at a honest price; now with eyelets!
I've had mixed opinions of Alex rims over the years after getting stuck with a pair of rebadged G3000's some time ago, but I guess every manufacturer makes their share of lesser quality boat anchors, no? On the recommendation of a local reputable wheel builder, I have the 26-inch DX32 a shot for my cargo bike build. He said he was really impressed with this rim's durability for the DH wheelsets he was selling. So I ran a non-eyelet 36 hole DX32 since last summer paired up with a Nuvinci CVT hub, and I've got nary a complaint. Wide, stiff, easy to build and haven't needed to true it yet. Just in the last few weeks, I began the switch over of the cargo bike to a Rohloff Speedhub, so needed a new 32 hole rim lace up. I picked the DX32 again, but this time it showed up on my doorstep with eyelets! I was surprised, and looking around the web, I'm not sure if this is an option, or if Alex is making all of them that way. On the flip side, the 548mm ERD is suspect, because my spokes are about 2mm longer than what they should have been. I trust the Speedhub's dimensions are correct, and should have measured the DX32 myself rather than relying on the published dimensions. For what it's worth, I have found other ERDs listed for this rim, but 548 seems to be the prevalent dimension and is listed by the manufacturer.
