A must have for every parent with a speech delayed child
This is the first and only sign language book that we have right now... because it is everything we need!My son is 3.5 years old and having speech delays, so I wanted a way for him to communicate with me and this is it.The book has pictures that are simple and easy to understand. You can literally start teaching your toddler or baby sign language within minutes of opening this book. My son loves to look at the pictures and he's really enjoying learning sign language too. This book has helped me to communicate with my son and gave him a way to tell me what he feels, wants and needs even when he isn't able to speak the words.I would recommend this book to everyone that is looking to learn sign language with their children/child.

Great Sign Language Instruction for Babies & Toddlers
This is a great book of basic sign language for babies. I first saw it in my local library and purchased it for my daughter and granddaughter. it is well proven that babies understand language long before they can speak. Teaching Sign Language to infants and toddlers gives them tools to communicate before their bodies are mature enough to speak words. The book has signs are divided into categories - foods, animals etc. The illustrations are clear and easy for parents to master before teaching to the child. At 15 months old my granddaughter knows the signs for milk, more, all done, bug, please, dog, diaper, sleep, hat and many more. I wish I had known about this 30 years ago.

Concise and useful! I like that it was written by an actual mom, and has practical advice for how and when to introduce sign language to your baby. The index is by far the most useful part—it has lots of words that you'll want to use with your baby, with clear images showing how to make the signs. In the digital version it's easy to look stuff up and go straight to the word you need.My baby hasn't picked up any of the signs yet, but we just started. I'm looking forward to communicating with him in this way!

it makes sense
I have used basic sign language for years. I work with special needs, people who can not speak words and I work with deaf and hard of hearing. I like the book because it appears to teach american sign language that is also used by adults, unlike sign language I have learned that adults don't use. The book gives explanations for the meaning which make sense to help to remember. I bought a book for a shower gift, for my son to teach his daughter and one to share with co-workers.

Comprehensive resource!
This has been a great "dictionary" of sorts for learning signs to help toddler communicate. Although there are great photos - I don't think this is a book for reading to the toddler like other sign language books. Older siblings and I use as a reference book when we want to add new signs based on toddler's budding interests. Recommend!
