The French Defense - Properly Played

Wolfgang Uhlmann is one of the all time great proponents of the French Defense, scoring over 56% and over 34% wins. Like his hero, Mikhail Botvinnik, he wielded the Winawer variation. All French players will want to study this book and it can be of great benefit for 1.e4 players. The layout and aesthetics of the book are not the most exciting. Most of the games have been carried forward from an earlier edition of this title.

I enjoyed the game collection thoroughly and liked the way the games were set out by the different lines of play available. A real treasure on the French Defence.
