Worked well...for about a week.
I loved this receiver...for the week that it worked. It then went into autoprotect mode after about 10-15 minutes, even though it was on a completely open shelving unit. I ended up returning it and spending the extra money on a brand new one, as I am not satisfied with whatever refurbishment process the receiver was put through.

Great product, highly recommended
Great product, highly recommended. This Receiver works great, I love the true theater sound that it produces. I love watching movies and listen to music. It has lots of power, the sound modes are easy to manage and select. Setup was a breeze. This is my first Denon, I owned other receivers before but none came close to this one. It works flawlessly, You'll truly be very happy with this receiver. I was a bit worried buying a Refurbished Receiver, but Denon did a great job restoring it. Per some forum I have been on, Denon ensured Refurbished receivers have going through rigorous testing before they are sold and plus you can purchase extended warranties for under $20 dollars for two years or under $40 for 3 years , I am very happy with this buy. Denon did a great job on this receiver. I highly recommend it to potential buyers.Note: I Do not work for Denon and I am not receiving any perks for this review. I am just a happy customer. I selected this product after spending lots of times researching on You-Tube, Google forum and read lots of reviews on Amazon. After all my research, I can attest that most of the reviewers on Amazon got it right. Whether you are an Audiophile or not, This is a great receiver, you'll be very happy with it.My Setup: I set all my speakers to small and for sub-woofer Low pass, I set it on LFE + MAIN. Sense the Sub-woofer does a better Job at handling Low frequency then any towers or book shelves speakers. I set everything to (80 Hz), anything below that the sub-woofer will handle it with ease and the receiver will never have to work too hard and will last much longer.Speakers: I have the (Pioneer SP-PK52FS Andrew Jones 5.1 Home Theater Speaker Package) and (Pioneer SP-T22A-LR Add-on Speaker designed by Andrew Jones for Dolby Atmos) The Atmos speakers comes with four gel like glue which allows you to place it on top of any towers without damaging the tower speaker cover if you ever decide to relocate them. The Denon Receiver does a great job on displaying 3 locations you can place your Atmos speakers if you decide to purchase it. The options are Front, Over-head or Rear. I place mine on top of the front speakers and it brighten up my sound. Lastly, I bought two BUTT KICKER (BASS SHAKER) [...], I went the AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker Tactile Transducer. You will need to either buy a (100 watts Amp) or use your Sub-Woofer. I you have a spare sub-woofer you can open it and connect the wires that goes to the speaker to your (Bass Shaker) and voila, you're in business Or if you have the extra money, you can buy a 100 watts Amp and connect the cable from the (Sub out) option on your receiver to the power amp and out to your (Bass Shaker). Use a Y cable if you have an amp to split the signal.Hope this help anyone who's interested in experiencing Movie Theater at home. For kicks, I had to watch all the Transformers, Matrix, Avatar, and lots of other action movies. The experience is amazing.... enjoy...

One week into ownership and this is a beast of an AV Amp. I have had a 5.1 surround system since 1994, and while I am using the same 5.1 speakers (with a zone 2 setup for the other 2), I and my family are hearing things we have never heard before. I am a very technically proficient person, but I do find the manual and interface to be a bit clunky. If you are going to have an online only manual, then have words highlighted with definitions, instead of making me doing google searches.I don't yet have everything setup, but I have more than I did with my old Onkyo (which lasted 3.5 years).

Not bad, sound quality is below par
It works, the apps are pretty cool. But the sound quality is awful. I came from a Yamaha, and had to get something with a smaller footprint to fit in my new entertainment center. I really wish I could have kept the Yamaha :(. When I switch the amp to 6ohm mode to match the speakers, it sounds distorted at all volumes. At 8 ohms, it's not powerful enough to really drive the speakers as hard as my 80w/channel Yamaha did.Old Amp - Yamaha RX-V1200Speakers - Yamaha NS-A1738

A bit of a let down
I was a little disappointed in the sound channel management moving from device to device but overall a decent purchase.

Save your cash, don't trust Denon refurbs.
Ordered the refurbished item. I'm not sure what exactly they refurbished, but this receiver was only powered on for about five minutes before some really loud static came through my speakers during setup and the unit went into protect mode. I contacted Denon service, and they came some runaround about my speakers impedance not matching the receiver, and suggested I return it. Promptly returned the item. I purchased this receiver to replace an older Denon model, and was very disappointed.Save your cash, don't trust Denon refurbs.
