Great product as long as you get one that works right out of the box
(5 stars as long as you have a working switch on your product.) Bought as a "used" product from amazon warehouse deals. Product was complete, new in original packaging. HOWEVER, Clearly the reason it was in the warehouse for discount sale was because it was DEFECTIVE! The switch mechanism would not work. Would not hold in the "on" (cook) position when lever was pressed as it is suppose to & would pop right back to the warm position. However, fortunately I had the understanding & know how to make appropriate adjustments to fix magnetic switch lever & shortly had it working properly. Bought this product to replace my old non stick Aroma rice cooker which the coating was badly peeling off of and had a pot made from aluminum. Happily, found out that this new stainless steel pot was actually the same exact size pot & lid as my old cooker & fits in my old cooker as well! Which means my old steamer & lid & cooker are all usable parts still! I am taking a chance & buying another warehouse deal of these so that I can have another to use. I have wanted an extra pot to cook in while one is stored in the fridge & a second one would be great. I wish I had known about & had one of these years ago. I really like this product. It is simple but effective. You can cook as little as one cup of rice in it at a time or much more. I wanted a larger pot because I use it for far more than rice. It makes oatmeal quickly & so easily. Other uses include, pasta, potatoes, soups, vegetables, shrimp, hotdogs, etc... Anything you might put in a pot on the stove to boil, you can make in this cooker. The bonus is, if you happen to walk away because of a phone call or interruption & forget you are cooking, once the water boils off, the bottom of the pot warps slightly from the heat, pulling away from the magnetic switch & the cooker switch releases turning the cooker to warm mode. Therefore the bottom of the pots contents only browns slightly but does not burn. The stainless steel with just a slight browned food stuck to it is much easier to clean than stainless with burnt on food!! Plus, in the warm mode, I can slow cook soups & other things in the pot for a whole day or more. I just cover the lid a bit more w/ a towel to keep the heat in better for slow cooking. I was happy with my first rice cooker from Aroma & thought it was a great invention, only I wished it wasn't a nonstick coated aluminum pot. In all of my other cooking I only use steal & cast iron & was not happy to have to use aluminum & non stick coating because of all the characteristic problems as well as health concerns with those materials. I was happier to find they offer it with a stainless steel pot!! Same great cooker made even better!! Plus the stainless steel pot "should" last for years & years longer then the previous aluminum not stick pot. I recommend this product to all my friends.

Excellent Stainless Steel Rice Cooker – Works Perfectly!
This stainless steel rice cooker is amazing! The build quality feels very solid, and I really like that the inner pot is stainless steel instead of non-stick coating – it’s healthier and much more durable. The rice always comes out fluffy and evenly cooked, and it keeps warm without drying out. It’s also very versatile – I’ve used it not only for rice but also for steaming vegetables and making soups. Cleaning is super easy since there’s no coating to worry about. Overall, this is exactly the kind of rice cooker I was hoping for: reliable, safe, and perfect for everyday use. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality rice cooker.

Perfect!
We had our old Aroma rice cooker for decades. Same size and design but with a non-stick interior. The non-stick was nice but never fully resolved or reduced the amount of rice that sticks on the bottom. But not difficult to remove. Just soaked in warm water for a bit and it was easy to remove. The rice cooker was reliable all those years. Passed it down to a friend and bought this one with the stainless steel interior. Love the clean look of the stainless steel pot. Rice cooks perfectly as expected. Rice still sticks at bottom, but easy to resolve. You'd have the same problem if you cooked it in a standard pot on the stove top as my mother use to when I grew up.

Highly Recommend for the Stainless Steel Inner Pot
The stainless steel inner pot is a fantastic feature, as it feels high-quality and is incredibly easy to scrub clean after use. Overall, it is a great value for the price and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable kitchen staple.

Perfect rice
Wish I bought this sooner. Rice was perfect. Love the stainless steel vs non stick. Sturdy bowl too, might even be able to use it for snacks. Best for a small household, I only cook 2 cups at a time.

Wonderful rice cooker!
For all those who complained about the rice cooker making a mess, it's not a big deal. I grew up eating rice and helping my Mom cook rice the old fashioned way on the stove. Rice is a starchy product and even with washing and rinsing, it will still make a lot of bubbles (when boiling) containing some of the rice starch. I received my Aroma rice cooker on March 29 and gave it a test whirl by using 3 cups of white medium grain rice. Surprisingly, there was hardly any mess from this quantity of rice. The rice reached the lid while cooking which may have prevented the bubbles from forming and "spitting" out the steam vent. The rice was very well cooked. The next day, Saturday, March 30, I cooked a single cup of white rice again using the provided plastic cup. Much to my surprise, and even after thoroughly washing and rinsing the rice 3x's, the boiling action created the bubbles which then reached the steam vent on the lid and splattered a little water out of that vent on to my table top. It's really not a big deal, again, because rice is a starchy food item and I've never cooked rice either with a pot on the stove or a rice cooker that did not have some splattering of water while cooking. For me, the real test is how well the rice cooker cooks rice. This model did an excellent job with my 3 cup and my 1 cup tests. The rice was very well steamed and delicious. I own a larger Aroma rice cooker from Costco which has a lid that latches. No messes with this kind of a lid, but the capacity of that cooker is too large for my reduced family size. I've owned other brands of rice cookers and they also had some water that gets splashed around while cooking. The other plus about this rice cooker is that when I went to register the cooker at [...], I clicked on spare parts and noticed that they sell a replacement stainless steel cooking pot for $9.00. I don't know of too many rice cookers that come with a stainless steel cooking pot which was a big factor in my purchase. Most cookers come with an aluminum pot or an alumuminum pot coated with a non-stick surface. Like others who have commented, I prefer the stainless steel and no exposure to aluminum, nor, exposure to peeling or flaking non-stick surfaces. I strongly recommend this cooker for a small family, couple, or anyone watching their diet and requiring smaller quantities of cooked rice. I haven't tried brown rice yet but I will soon and may revisit my comments about this rice cooker and its ability to cook brown rice. Note that the supplied instruction booklet says not to use the measuring lines in the pot for brown rice. Brown rice requires more water so you'll have to follow the instructions for cooking brown rice in this cooker. 05/28/2013 Update Some of the reviews complained about splattering from the vent in the glass cover. I found that I could use a regular or soup spoon to cover that hole and lean the handle of the spoon on the handle at the center of the cover. The concave part of the spoon faces the hole and the handle leans on the cover. I've done this several times and the cooking process (vibration caused by boiling, etc.) does not make my spoon fall. No more splattering! Also, as others have noted in their review, if you leave this cooker plugged in after it's cooked the rice, it's on a warming cycle, but, it causes the bottom layer of rice to stick to the bottom of the pot. So, I've timed my cooking cycle to about 22 minutes for a cup and a half (your time may vary), set a timer, when the buzzer goes off, I unplug the cord immediately. Of course if you want warm or hot rice, this action won't do. However, if you pull the cord, the bottom layer does not stick and your clean up is easier. I love this cooker. Makes perfect batches of rice everytime!

Aroma Rice Cooker - Would Recommend - Works Great
I have an old rice cooker/veggie steamer that I received for Christmas many decades ago that still works great. But the inner liner(or pot) is 100% aluminum. And we know that aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s. So now that I’ve switched to a Whole-Foods Plant-based diet/lifestyle, I eat tons more whole grain brown rice. The inner liner of the Aroma Housewares rice cooker is stainless steel! Score! And it cooks brown rice perfectly!! It is as simple and easy to use and clean as the old one. Measure the rice with the included cup & wash the rice. Place it in the pot. Fill with broth or water or a mix of both with the same measuring cup. Place the cover on. Plug it in. Push the button down to cook, and 30-40 minutes later you have perfect rice! You simply add extra liquid (1/2 to 3/4 cup) than normal white rice and let it sit on warm after the timer ends to give it more time to cook. You just have to experiment. The first time I cooked whole-grain brown rice per the chart and recommended water, it was just slightly chewy. So per the instructions I just added a 1/2 cup more water and left it sitting on warm. That did the trick to finish cooking till it was just perfect. The second time, I added more water than the first time and let it sit 10 minutes after the timer ended. Perfect rice! I haven’t cooked quinoa or barley yet. But they are in the cooking chart in the book it came with. I can’t wait to try cooking other grains! Update: Now that I’ve used this rice cooker for a couple months, and about 6-8 times, to cook long-grain brown rice, I can say it’s a great cooker. And I saw the other reviews that complain about the cooker spewing water everywhere. That DID happen to me the very first time I used it. But after that, it never happened again even when cooking more than I did that first time. The first time I only used 2 cups of uncooked brown rice, and yes it did spew and starchy gloppy water went everywhere. It boiled over. But the next time I used it, I placed it in my sink anticipating a mess. I cooked 3 cups uncooked the second time, and NO MESS. The next time (3rd time) I placed it on my counter with a triple layer of paper towels underneath it, and again - no mess! So maybe it is some sort of coating that is scrubbed or cooked off, after the first use. Yes I did wash the inner pot when I unpacked it, before first use. So that may be the reason. But I’m here to tell you it hasn’t happened since. I highly recommend this rice / grain cooker. It’s perfect!

Cooked Rice but soap & water collect under lid handle :/
UPDATE: I decided to keep it because my rice comes out oerfectly cooked. I just loosened the screws on the lid a bit to let any soapy water stuck order the plastic handle part and the water now runs through, removing any stuck soap. Its a nice rice cooker- The rice came out nicely cooked but I noticed a black residue on the bottom of my rice on the first use- i hope it's not toxic. I didnt notice the black residue on the 2nd batch or other batches. I think itd a bit over-priced as it looks a bit delicate and Im sure the pot is Not Solid Stainless Steel. I do question whether it's solid stainless steel because I saw a reviewer's picture where the inside of the pot had chipped in some places, so I'm guessing it's a stainless steel coating only. Solid stainless should not chip or scratch. We've been using a solid stainless steel pot, pan and and eating utensils for more than 12 years and no chips or cuts! They are 18/10 stainless steel and still look like new today **see pic of 18/10 stainless spoon- you can see 18/10 printed on the spoon. I also noticed that water (and soap) gets trapped under the lid handle after washing the lid, and you can't clear it out because it's screwed on- this is the reason why i want to return it because I dont want the soapy water leaking into the rice through the screws (or screw holes) from the lid handle- ** See video and pic. I otherwise like the size, color and style of this rice cooker and i really like that it has it's own removable pot and glass lid to wash separately, unlike some modern rice cookers that have the lid attached with rubber around it, which is hard to clean. I do wish it would give an alert when it's done cooking because once it goes into warm mode, it badically keeps cooking and you could end up having burned rice stuck at the bottom. I havent had that happpen because i disconnect it within a few mintutes of the lever going from cook to warm.
