Good price and decent clock
This is a pretty good coocoo clock for the price. My husband wanted one, and I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money. The majority of the clock is wood. However, like many others said, the little bird and the chirping sounds makes it seem cheap. The bird is made of plastic and deflects from the overall beauty of the clock. I realize you get what you pay for, so that's why I give it five stars. I could stand to lose the "echo" chirping. I find it hard to keep track and count with that, and there's no way to turn it off. It is also hard to set the amount of chirps to the hour. You have to keep hitting that little button on the side until it gets to the amount of chips you need. Again, not difficult but hard to keep up when it echos too. All in all, it's still a good value and I have "no regerts" (some of you will get that, most won't).

nice for the price
The "Cuckoo" is recorded and when it sounds off it sounds a little like its underwater. That and it double cuckoos for each hour which is a little confusing. the first cuckoo is a little louder than the second but you get used to it. The clock itself is beautiful though and well worth the money

A nice clock for the low price.
Despite all these negative reviews, this was a good value. It works beautifully and keeps perfect time. There are a few plastic components on the clock, face, cuckoo door...but the case overall is all wood and carved nicely. Yes, the call does have an echo, but it is a softer sound and the bird doesn't move (mouth and wings) as the echo bounces back, very well thought out actually. It doesn't sound as a traditional cuckoo does, it's more of a live recording of the bird call with various natural sounds quietly in the background (babbling brook), making a nice effect. The volume control is handy and the auto night shut off is a nice feature. Bear in mind that you do get what you pay for, but I've found that this was a good value for the low price, and perfect for someone older who doesn't want to deal with pulling the weights every day.

My New Coo coo Clock
It's adorable. The wood is beautiful. The bird is well heard, and the time is accurate.

Nice clock, terrible sound
This could be a good deal if you don't mind the "cuckoo" sound. I do. If they had just stayed with a basic "cuckoo" it would have been fine. Instead, they fancied it up so that every hour starts with what is supposed to be a babbling brook in a forest (not), then each "cuckoo" has what is supposed to sound like an echo at slightly lower volume, so you end up with twice as many, i.e. 24 cuckoo calls at 12 o'clock. It sounds obnoxious to me. I thought about keeping it for the attractive (for the price) clock and just turning off the cuckoo, but that sort of defeats the purpose. I am returning.

Cookoo Clock
My grandmother had one when I was a child. Hence, I must own one. Well, I lived in Switzerland and bought my 1st there. Then when Dad visited we went to the Black Forest in Germany and he bought his. I just love the noise and the memories.
