Great book....what a guy
Guess if you weren't from Houston or Texas you might not be as fascinated with Welcome, but certainly his career transcended local and regional recognition. Quite a personality and still kickin'.

Hard Work, Great Deals, and Family
Welcome is a great name. I loved the story of how Welcome Wilson got it. Twenty-two days is a long time to worry about a baby’s name, but in the end the choice was excellent, and I’m sure it has always made him feel welcome. I think the name sums up Wilson’s life very well. He has had many positions from academia, to the military, government and real estate development. In all instances he’s been a success. He’s had failures, and he doesn’t gloss over his mistakes, but the willingness to listen and make correction has served him well. It’s a lesson all entrepreneurs should learn. The other part of the book I liked was his emphasis on family and the tremendous support he received from his wife Joanne. Striving for success can lead too many people, women as well as men, to put family second if not tenth or later.Welcome is a good story teller. The book is an easy read. If you’re from Texas or a budding entrepreneur, you’ll love the book, but it can be read and enjoyed by anyone.I received this book from PR by the Book for this review.

Fascinating Story of a Bigger Than Life Texas Businessman and Family Man
Like anyone who has lived more than 90 years, Welcome W. Wilson Sr. has stories to tell. In this lively and engaging memoir, he shares his life, his successes, and his failures with wit, charm, and sincerity. He's more down to earth than you can imagine someone who has developed 8,000 home sites, served in the Armed Forces and in key government positions, dined with celebrities and politicians from both sides of the aisle, and served on the Board of Regents for the University of Houston would be.A masterful business man and problem solver, Wilson has led a life many of us only dream about. Through what he calls Welcome's "Rules of Order," you can also learn to succeed in business and life by avoiding his mistakes he so willingly shares. Filled with numerous photographs, Always Welcome would be a great addition to your home library, office, or as a book club title. My copy will have a special place in my home office, so that I can refer to his "Rules of Order" regularly. With Always Welcome, Wilson inspires us to reach new heights in our personal and professional lives. He takes leading by example to a whole new level.Highly recommended.I received a copy of this book from the author, This review contains my honest opinions, which I have not been compensated for in any way.

A very interesting life story.
The media could not be loaded. One would have to say that this book arrived in the most unusual way. We received a knock on our door and found the postal carrier with a postage due package. It was this book. While my wife scraped up the $1.12 to pay the postage due, I joked with the mail lady that if they were hoping for a good review, they weren’t starting out on the right foot.Actually, the only reason that part appears in this review at all is because we are required by the FTC to disclose the details of any item we receive for review that is free or at a discount price. We have no idea how to go about disclosing that, other than to tell the truth of the matter.Always Welcome: Nine Decades of Great Friends, Great Times & (Mostly) Great Deals by Welcome W. Wilson Sr. is a very well-told story of the life of a man with an unusual name with a flair for deals and evidently for great storytelling.Readers are treated to a fascinating story of the life of a mover and shaker who was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. In fact, it sounds like, at first, there were very few spoons in his house. But, the original WWW grew up during the depression when times were hard and people had to make ends meet however they could.Mr. Wilson tells of his time in government and his meeting with multiple presidents of the United States, as well as other fascinating characters. We find it to be a welcomed change from many memoirs we read, and there have been many, that Welcome doesn’t sugarcoat his mistakes. Where he made a mistake, he tells us. This is a great way to learn. As a point of disclosures to the readers of our blogs: As our readers know, we are very Conservative, Fundamental Christians. That being said, Mr. Wilson discusses the opinion of himself and his wife on abortion. We do not agree with his stance nor do many of our readers. We do not think that influenced this review in any way.Always Welcome is a very fascinating book and is one that should probably be read by anyone in business, politics, academie, or who is just plan interested in history. We award it all five stars and $1.12 postage due.We were sent a complimentary copy of this book. The book arrived $1.12 postage due. We are under no obligation to write any review, positive or negative. We are disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255.
