Q: Does this light need to be oriented upright in an outlet? We just bought another light and found that it can't be plugged in sideways or upside down.

The real question is whether or not it has a polarized plug with one blade larger than the other. From the other answers, it has two blades that are the same size. In the same outlet position (top or bottom) it can be used in the up or down orientation. In my bathroom, the outlet has been installed horizontally instead of vertically. This the first time I have ever seen a recepticle installed this way. My house is filled with plumbing and electrical code in violation of today's standards.Even the manufacturer misunderstood this question.
