a really useful scholarly resource which will take people back to a modern classic
An excellent idea to give a chapter by chapter survey of MacIntyre’s complex arguments. A useful contribution to the revived debate about virtue ethics.

A fantastic guide
Lutz's commentary on After Virtue is incredibly helpful. MacIntyre is tough reading, and it takes a lot of effort, time, and will-power to make it all the way through AV (or, at least, if you read as slowly as I do). Especially helpful is Lutz's chapter on MacIntyre's relationship to Marxism. Anyone discovering AV, or trying to understand it more deeply, will benefit from this book.

Good overview
Lutz does an admirable job of explaining MacIntyre’s thoughts. While the prose can be dense at times I think I have a much better grasp of AV’s argument. Of note, my edition was bound without pages 179-186. Has anyone else encountered that?

Very Helpful
This book was exceptionally clear and very helpful at understanding After Virtue. It was a pretty short/quick read that managed to elucidate most, if not all, of the main ideas better than the much longer original text. If you're reading After Virtue, and you have any questions at all, I urge you to buy this book.

Great help for Alaisdair MacIntyre's followers
The author provides insightful guidance to form a better understanding of the two main conclusions of MacIntyre's After Virtue: the inadequacy of conventional modern moral and political philosophy and the need to renew it only by returning to the study of virtues or excellence in human agency.
